Hmmm, 04 May 2021Samsung should end smartphone segment So samsung should stop smartphone sales even tho they made profit thanks to the mobile division - strong s21 sales.

Im guess you dont run your own business even though you giving out your 2 cents

SizN80, 04 May 2021Lol “four whole years” that is pathetic, should be at least ... moreIt's just not profitable... Still a good going by Samsung, it's not Apple-level yet, but it's still miles ahead of low quality budget brands like Xiaomi who end support after 2 years.

TotallyNotAppleGuy, 04 May 2021Guess what, Samsung killed the S8 while the phone which was... morePeople should realise that a phone doesn't turn into a brick the moment it stops receiving updates.

In particular, old Android versions are supported for a long time by a lot of apps. Even something like Android 6.0 - 6 years old by now - has decent app support, while 7.0 is still going strong, and that's 5 years old by now!

Considering that the S8 has Android 9.0, which was released in late 2018, it won't "die" until 2025, by which point the 8-year-old hardware would probably not cut it anyway.

Samsung pretty much killed this with one ui update ...and
If i ever going back to samsung, i will consider note series or fold ... I dont see any add on value in S series after s8 ....

          S9 - add stereo speakers
S10 - new punch hole screen
          S20 - 108 mp camera
          S21 - just a bit of improvement over s20

              Samsung should end smartphone segment

The first ever Samsung to have DeX. Since Linux on DeX had officially gone on Android 10 and the S8 stayed on Android 9.0 Pie, there could be a chance that Linux on DeX on S8 is still useable.

Essen, 04 May 2021Sorry. I mean. What was the S8 Lite? Galaxy S Light

s8 received 2 yrs major and 2 yrs security updates. however, my s9 received 33 months major updates. hopefully, it will have additional 2 years of security updates. in total, almost 5 yrs of updates is what you can expect from a smartphone lifetime. I can keep using this with a battery replacement till galaxy s23 will be launched. consuming addiction is not good.

SizN80, 04 May 2021Lol “four whole years” that is pathetic, should be at least ... moretime to make this phone cheaper
