Considering they've left the X2 Pro a broken mess, still full of bugs and a completely non-working Android Auto function I think they'll do a shit job of this. No point promising updates if they've all broken or 3 months behind for security patches!

1-2 years of OS upgrade (depending on model)
3-4 years of security patch (depending on the final Android upgrade and SoC/chipset on the phone)

Only thing is, Oppo usually did not commit to releasing security patch monthly. But they are doing that with all the new models nowadays.

Nothing new in this statement, Oppo has been doing it a while.

The article is misleading: to my knowledge, most Oppo phones I know of since 2017 or so have received 3 years of security patch updates. It's the Android updates where they were traditionally quite poor but improving since 2020 or so.

As far as security patch support goes, Oppo has actually been among the best. The 3 year commitment was valid for the Reno series, Find X2 series, etc. The R15 and R17 are still receiving security patch updates....

I don't know why Oppo said what it said, or perhaps Android Planet misinterpreted the representative's statement - they might mean three OS upgrades....

ColorOS is the best "skin" next to OneUI, with ZenUI coming up super close :)
If they extend it to their midrangers, they'll be the best in business.

I bought this one in 2018, it's on MIUI 12, so it got 3 MIUI updates, it's on Android 9, so it got one Android update, and it's now on November 2020 security patch.
