Motorola made the mistake of designing devices in the image of what mainly would appeal to American customers, I think. Samsung in contrast seem to be more internationally designed products. Motorola have produced a few nice products, like the v3, and the defy, and the build quality usually is good, but they look outdated, are often bulky or heavy etc.

The biggest shortfall of the Motorola devices are,
1.lack of support
2.OS polishing
3.nothing special about their devices
I mean the competition is known for something, samsung for screens and cpus, HTC for build quality, LG for screens too, Apple for build quality and iOS, motorola is known for what? nothing...they just make good handsets that dont have that unique feature that will make them stand out from the crowd.

how can a former major in the mobile sector do such misstakes. and google dosen't act better. the moto marketing is really bad.
moto have to fight for india and china and don't give them up. less than 10 mobiles are enough to got something in each price class. this with a good update policy and after sales service along with a unique design and the people will start to buy their products again!

Its good they cut jobs, coz Motorola is loosing market share, so they must adapt to lower sales already.
But why they are loosing market share? Coz they try to compete with Samsung, and they cant, Samsung is too good.
Why do all good Motos have AMOLED displays? Because thats what made samsungs Galaxy S series a great success. Thats what Moto think, they dont see that the success of S was also because of copying iphone design! Wake up Moto, everyone who like Pentile AMOLED screens are already buying Samsung, give us some real good displays so the rest of us can buy phones from you at least?
But then again, after the Moto cancelled ICS updates all the Moto fans are moving to Sony. A week ago i was sure i would have bought a Razr HD if they didnt have Pentile AMOLED, but now im not sure anymore, betraying past buyers is a hit below the belt, i could not have seen that one coming from Moto, it was very low level to do that, and i do hope it will hurt their sales.

the RAZR line is the best and very attractive design compared to others all the new razr M and razr i should be brought here in asia.Motorola announces smartphones and realse them after the party is over.the february announced motoluxe is still not available. google do something with motorola's management team

motorola nevr did try to market itself in india.Samsung bcame king from nowhere.and moving out of india was senseless accordin to EXIT UNPROFITABLE MARKETS strategy.instead agressive marketing and good after sales service wud have helped MMI to be in gains.google guys needs to examine their heads

soonly ios 6 and iphone 5 bugs and android jellybean smoothness will let a lotof ios6 users witch to android and to wp8! so the manufacters of those platforms will rise more and more! and motorola's intel will win of course also!

the problem is not android ! smausng won all the market and top 1 most valuable brand with android! it is motorola bad phones before google acquired it and the samsung and sony and lg huge market in android domain! but soonly motorola with intel is joining soon! think of it wp8 and ios fans next time! lol! and go out of here! ( no bashing, no trolling in gsmarena rules)

The aquisition ensured ownership of some heavy patents that were, in their eyes, too good to let go of. If Motorola can sort out its products and apply it's patents accordingly, I see no reason for them to start making quality handsets again.
If HTC is able to do so, I don't see why this restructure can't allow Motorola to prepare and produce quality products that can put them back at the top of their game. Long gone are the days of desirability with Motorola handsets as their UI overlay on Android seems weak in comparison to TOuchwiz/Sense UI et al.
