If it gets bigger in side ways then it be still same thick. Camera lens get further from the sensor is why the bump gets bigger while the phone it's self gets thicker also. It makes no sense.

            I see the sensor get bigger same like screen get from 6 inch to 6.5 inch but i dont see why would the sensor need to get thicker if you consider it's getting bigger. If i look the videos where phones are taken apart then they dont seem to have much stuff in them so making the phone thicker will add more empty space for the phone and they dont make larger batteries or anything

              I know everyone in this comment section is gonna be like "1cM iS tOo tHiCk bEcAuSe oF UnCoMfOrTaBLE gRiP PlS MaKe pHoNe mOrE Thin" and anyways making phone 1 cm and larger battery would make ttge phone big and chunky and like 240-250 gram because iphone 12 pro max is like 228 gram with only 3687 mah battery so 1313 mah battery more is gonna be way more heavier

                Phones are too thin,
                I do not mind a 10mm "thick" phone with a big battery and no bumps.

You get plenty of software support so you can just stick around with whatever model you have and it serves you well and with enough iterative changes, it'll be a evolutionary/revolutionary when you do decide to upgrade the hardware side of phone.

                          I don't understand why if manufacturers go with thicker phones they can't simply have the camera island recessed into the phone. There's no technical reason I can see from taking smartphones apart all the time that this cannot be done.

                            The iPhone 13 will be an iterative device that will cater to Apple fans without bringing anything exciting to the table.
                            That's what it should say up there...

                              Tech companies have this strange idea that a device is as thick as the narrowest point which is, of course, fundamentally wrong.
                              It's getting worse because, rather than increase the overall thickness and give us the bigger batteries we all crave, they increase the ugly bump depth instead.
                              I mean, have you seen the Mi11 Ultra?
