Not everyone wants a gaming phone, but those that do would be happy with a K40 Gaming - especially if they are on a budget.

Anonymous, 20 May 2021Think a little... Your own videos are local...you don'... moreVvc is better than Av1 so by your logic we should ban Av1 or discourage it? You just have monopolistic brain, for companies to use single tech because it has certain advantage.

Let companies choose what they want and spend money to research what they want its their money and their product, if you don't agree with certain tech just don't buy it.

And encoding is important too even if you play game and stream it at YouTube you encode video there, when eddit video for business or sending to friend it's encoding, don't ignore it as it doesn't exist.

Also YouTube, Netflix and other big companies only few of their Video are available in Av1 format, some promise 2024 or more to standardize all of their Video to Av1, why should Qualcomm bother? By release expensive Decoder and encoder which probably won't be used at all?

And LC3 I gave you link it was developed by both Fraunhofer and Ericson

This is Bluetooth standard document LC3 is there, can you give me reliable source which say LC3 is not built in Bluetooth?

Your own videos are local...you don't need bandwidth to use.
Big companies will go for AV1...
Of course for benefits. But at least this time, it's benefits without higher price for customers.
With Qualcomm and SD888, you will spend up to 1200 bucks for an obsolote decoder.

LC3+LE Audio and bluetooth 5.2 are separate licences...
LC3 was developed by fraunhofer, not Ericsson
Past said to us some companies and associations (bluetooth, fraunhofer...USB) respect FRAND, others (Qualcomm...) don't care.

That's why Aptx should be banned.
But customers are disinformed...most don't even heard about LC3, even some Media don't know what it is

Anonymous, 19 May 2021You're wrong : LC3 is in Low Energy Audio, not in blue... moreYou are the one who didn't understand, without average user ability to encode their own Av1 or even small business means only big Coroporation can do it, so you just consume things from Google or Netflix,

That means Qualcomm by supporting it only benefit few companies and Not consumer in General.

All other codecs like x264/265 you can encode and decode them easily.

About lc3 it was Created by Ericson themselves, same maker of Bluetooth, any Soc with Bluetooth 5.2 will have it, it doesn't matter if it's Qualcomm or mediatek or Rock chip and this is my source

Qualcomm's are not LE Audio (that's why data sheets show "Low Energy Audio features" and not "Low Energy Audio")

About AV1, it's hardware decoding...and you speak about encoding! Tsss
Hardware decoding is available on Intel, nVidia rtx30xx, AMD RX6xxx, Dimensity 900,1000,1100,1200, Exynos 2100, AmlogicS905X4...

Anonymous, 18 May 2021Maybe Mediatek is less open for Custom Rom. 95% people won&... more1. lc3 is standard in bluetooth 5.2 so all phones will have it in future i dont know why you blame Qualcomm? and phone can have even 100 of codecs no need to choose one codec why dont you have them all?

          2. about Av1 as of now it only benefit big corporations like Google, you cant encode it yet, 15 second clip can take 10 minutes or longer sometime up to hours, its not ready for masses why should Qualcomm support big corporation and leave behind consumer? x264 or x265 can encode in real time, 15 second will take 15 sec or up to 20 sec.

so are you ready to encode your movie for 40 hours or more?

and this is not qualcomm problem even intel, amd, nvidia etc they dont have hardware support yet for av1, and it take forever for software solution.

But Qualcomm's promotion of Aptx and MPEG5 is bad for streamers and headphones users...far more people.

When more devs change their mind, we will have both

Developers prefer snapdragon because it's easy and everything is there for them no need to reverse engineer or write driver for most of things. Am not developer I may be wrong but for what I have seen and read from Xda Mediatek is worst in providing them,

And from start you or who ever I quote first, claimed Mediatek is more open than Qualcomm, which is not true.

              See ya.

                  -No front Camera
                  -camera can't use full Resolution
These two make it Un usable.

Then I went to Pixel (Aosp one)
                  -No call volume
-probably camera doesn't have full resolution, etc

In short its mess in there, that's redmi note 8 is more popular than note 8 pro, and note 9 pro is more popular than note 9.

                    Others too...
My numbers are a little bit old (2017 or 2018 I don't remember exactly), but when Qualcomm spent 1 dollars on R&D, Qualcomm earn 6 dollars benefits.
And no, as CDMA is Standard Essentiel Patent (SEP), Qualcomm can't do anything...Fair Reasonnable And Non Discriminatory (FRAND) is the rule.
Qualcomm doesn't respect this rule (no licence for competitors : licence to OEM instead, high fees : up to 20 dollars fees on some devices with 30 dollars soc...it's not fair, not reasonnable and Discriminatory!)

Seriously, you're really unable to find sources?

When did I wrote XDA are liars? Never!

I wrote OEM release sources instead!
                        What's the problem?
You want the sources, you've got it! Easy to find, adapted to the whole devices...Mediatek's are in, and all the other vendors.

                        Qualcomm and licences!
                        Or how to kill competitors...
You just have to remember what Qualcomm did with CDMA and LTE...
You set fees to a very high level and give cash back when OEM choose your chip...

And you kicked your competitors out of the market (nVidia, Intel, Texas instruments, Broadcom, via, ST-Microelectronics...)

For your information, Qualcomm has many closed sources too...you just have to look at Googles security bulletins (by far the higher Vector of security fails each months)

Anonymous, 17 May 2021What a lazy Guy! The code, you've got it! OEM release ... moreYeah yeah so xda are liars? They always say mediatek and Hisilicon don't Release them and genious Guy here say otherwise why don't you post your source to prove your claim?

And Qualcomm is one of the best innovator we have now, Apple, Kirin, Mediatek, Exynos and probably any other Oem at some point they Licence Qualcomm inventions,

By your Logic Qualcomm shouldn't invent new tech and just use existing open source one?
