Within China Xiaomi is still trying to shake the image of a 'budget brand'. Huawei so far was the only manufacturer to be able to do that and sell their flagships in huge quantities in China. Step into an office in Beijing or Shanghai and the vast majority of office workers use either Apple or Huawei p or mate series. With Huawei unable to manufacture phones their is a big opportunity for Xiaomi to catch Huawei's existing customers in the high end segment. Xiaomi's cameras are already very good so I think these type of partnerships are more about brand image and marketing

        If Sharp-Leica, their partnership will not success globally unless Sharp phones are available worldwide.

          Leica does quality control.
          Leica does not make lens for phones. Also, if lenses were Leica, phone would cost much more.
          Leica is overpriced compared even to Apple.

          Same for Zeiss, just branded.

            Today a coworker if mine asked me about the xiaomi brand, she said she never heard of it before, she is not tech savvy just the average Joe only knowing about Samsung and Apple

            Her FIRST question about the Xiaomi brand was:

            "Are their cameras good?"

            This lady represents the majority!

              huawei is the best camera smartphone since they use leica lens... its brighter shot even in lowlight even in super dark are only huawei leica great photos compared to other brand. if leica lens looking for other patrnership brand i think is time to switch brand,i used huawei many years is because is camera really worth it comapare to other brand.

                Better than mi11 ultra.
                Not worth putting tons of millions in Leica's pocket like OnePlus gave $150 mi to Hasselblad.

                    that'll literally beat any flagship smartphone ever released with its camera prowess.

                    its like huawei and leica again like from 2016. it was one hell of a journey with them.

                    it should be a legacy, as xiaomi is literally on the top right now.

                            These companies need to focus more on smartphones
                            Usability instead of focusing on camera.
                            It's all nice to have a great camera on a smartphone but, security and, functionality is more important!!!!!!

                              if Xiaomi-Leica happen,, i hope Xiaomi gonna upgrade their software MIUI to whole new level

                                That's a darn shame. They should go for Honor. They could use it.
