The new iPhone has such short flex cables that is almost impossible to damage them when attempting a screen or battery replacement. Also you cannot replace the fingerprint reader on the seven or eight with a replacement button as it's coded to the motherboard. I am the same as you. I replace the battery after a year or so. Xiaomi phones are surprisingly easy to do this with.

        Finally it's releasing before becoming obsolete by another phone launch in china, let's see what price, I think it'll be same as X7 Pro~30k. I wish if they put better camera system and 686 or 689 from last year, also OIS and >8mp ultrawide.

Unfortunately all these malpractice by OEMs is because we as users who want smartphones to be sustainable like Fairphone are in minority. With no one advocating for our rights. That's why, I have decided to watch teardowns of phones before buying them so I do get an idea if the phone I'm about to purchase can be repaired easily or not. There needs to be awareness on this subject, so that consumers rights to repair is upheld. Maybe Govt have to step in to make laws regarding this matter.

Problem is no smartphone manufacturer really cares about sustainability. They want to sell as much additional products as possible like Bluetooth earphones, dongles (lately some manufacturers are even removing that), chargers and wireless chargers. Offering wireless charging is very environmentally unfriendly as wireless charging your phone uses a lot more electricity and increases e-waste. I think they are hoping you change your phone when the battery life degrades. Batteries are very cheap and are supplied by third parties so they really don't want you to change it and hope that you will get rid of your old phone and upgrade

                GsmArena please also talk about user rights, especially the right to repair.. I don't see this site ever championing user opinion or highlighting the fact that smartphone manufacturers have been making their phones difficult to repair.. You see the Samsung phones, most if not all, released this year and last year came with battery glued which makes the phones difficult and even dangerous to repair for users and third parties. Please highlight these facts. With increasing demand for sustainability, manufacturers will be forced to make their phones easily repairable I guess. Please also educate the general public about sustainable smartphones. If I can replace the battery myself like removing the back cover and just popping the new battery, I'd use my smartphone for longer given there is no other damage or part failure. These greedy manufacturers, especially Sammy and fruit company are restricting third party repairs as well. These unfair practices must be highlighted not GSMA is always churning out new articles about new launches everyday and not focusing on this OEM malpractice.
