You can argue that all electronic goods are bad for the environment but, unlike many electronic goods such as games consoles and tablets, phones are a necessity and something people in modern society can't do without.

And why they are not doing this with flagship phones? But only with budget or mid-range phones. The answer is simple, there are more people buying cheaper phones than expensive ones.

Is good for business, but not so good for consumers. Because in releasing model after model, they are just inviting people to change their phones frequently. Not thinking on supporting those phones.

It's the equivalent of throwing as much poo at a wall as possible and hoping as much as possible sticks. I prefer quality over quantity. It's also very confusing for consumers. It's also likely that it means that you're device that you might have top of the range specs is quickly trumped by a new model in the space of a few months. There's four reasons

Redmi note 4 (budget), Nokia 7 plus (midrange) era were almost perfect. If they want to, they can make them, but they won't and have influenced people's mind the exact same way you said, "if you don't want compromises, shell more money".

If you think it's too much of a compromise, you can shell out for $1,000 flagships. But then you're still missing out on headphone jack, card slot and charger if you're buying Apple or Samsung.

                        This Phone will be awesome

                          realme? you see this?

                          yeah.

put amoled and 120hz together for realme 9 pro.
you're already outdated in terms of specs (60hz amoled still, and with those big chins)

xiaomi is just making the midrange ground so competitive with their phones. even samsung cannot even match them. realme used to have such good phones but they became downhill (realme 6 pro had a 2x telephoto, realme 7 pro downgraded a lot of stuff)

so in anytime of the day, i'd get a midrange xiaomi instead of a downgraded realme phone.
miui matured even more than realme ui, with them adding more features and such.

Instead of creating a perfect budget / midrange phone ,they omit couple of important features from each model and release a bunch of models.

Are you planning on buying them all? If you're not planning on buying a phone, it shouldn't matter to you then. If you're planning on buying a phone, why wouldn't you want more to choose from?

I like Xiaomi, Poco, redmi whatever but I'm so sick and tired of the amount of phones coming out. Not just them either. Samsung, realme, Vivo, oppo and probably others. Just totally out of control really. It's going to lead to consumer fatigue. Ten new phones a year should be more than enough. Not fifty plus. It's just ludicrous.

I have ... moreFor a LCD display black looks grey if the brightness is set to high especially in a dark room or at night. In a LCD screen, the liquid crystal acts like a gate which controls the opening of Red, Green and Blue filters. And there is a light source behind the filter which is usually LED's.
When a pure black colour image is viewed, the liquid crystal blocks the filters to make it black, even though the light comes out from the little gaps and the image looks grey (Flagship LCD TV's have so many tiny LED's behind the filter arranged in groups to control the backlight more precisely)
While OLED's are self emitting panel so each of the sub pixel(Red, Green and Blue) turn of for a black colour.
Since all the pixels turn of for the black colour, OLED'S are very efficient for displaying black colour.

Few years ago the LG G series phones with IPS LCD had a peak brightness near 1000nits while the OLED'S at that time only had 500-600nits peak. But things are changed now and there are OLED mobile panels with 1500nits and even higher upto 2000nits peak brightness.
