      This cheaper model is getting MiUi 12.5, while my 350€ Poco F3 is still on MiUi 12.0.5 and April security patch. And is a 2 months old released model. Is not like is 2020 model or something.

          Xiaomi is thinking that maybe some of those people will change the 2019 model with the 2021 model.
          Even if half of those people will make the change, it will still be good.
          Profit. That's the only point of this phone.

            What's the point of this exactly? Why even name it as note 8? There's nothing extraordinary in hardware or software here

              I'd love to see a camera/battery performance comparison in the review against the 2019 version. I used the original for a little while and liked it.

That was used on last year's redmi note 9. They likely had too much stock left as the the redmi note 9 series did not sell so well at all. So it's not two years old but it's at least a year old and they're not going to really be able to put them into handsets in 2022 when the competition will be pushing forward.

                          One improvement is the in-box charger now support full 18W charging. The 2019 Redmi Note 8 came with 10W charger only.

                              Price? If its too expensive, then maybe i will consider the redmi note 9 or 10, poco x3, poco m3 series
