Anonymous, 25 May 2021Hope SD890 uses: Two X2 @ 2.85GHz Four A78 @ 2.2 GHz ... more2 X2 means your phone will heat up severely... I still think giving 4 high frequency A710 cores.. like more than 2.8GHz can actually do the work.. no need of X cores.. these have severe heating issues..

Woohoo, 25 May 2021Can chip manufacturers for once give us the efficiency impr... moreWhat major improvement in quality of life would 20% more battery provide? It's a few hours on devices that essentially last a day and a couple hours, at best. The display and wireless are the things using the most battery. You still need to plug it in every day. 20% more performance would probably be more noticeable.

If they'd manage to bump battery life on everything, that would be great. We're probably getting there soon as it's hard to justify higher resolutions than 1440p.

Would be interested to see the SD 888 successor with the new Cortex-X2. I'd be surprised if it can support native 4K/120Hz screen configuration and 8K/60fps video recording.

Nothing surprising, ARM is making efforts yet again compared to AMD and Intel. CPU performance is already overkill for phones so A710 is the right step to energy efficiency. FINALLY, ARM does a proper update to the aging A53/55 but +35% is peanuts compared to Apple's improvements of little cores throughout 4 years+

So, do not blame the chip.

Can chip manufacturers for once give us the efficiency improvements of 20-30% instead of the similar uplift in performance?
Wouldn't it be great if we got 15-20% more battery life with similar performance and not the other way around!

And hopefully the next Snapdragon flagship SoC will be built on TSMC's 5nm instead of Samsung's, as it was already proven that the latter is inferior in transistor density.

With this, ARM killed the whole year chips.
So, if you have an SD 855/865 performance level phones, stick with that until the next year.

We did it boys, a55 core is no more 😭

now, depend on chip vendor to enhance and optimize

Let's hope they fix last year's 888 overheating issue in it's 2022 equivalent.

Will skip this year googke Pixel 6 series due to them using A55 and dated Mali GPUs
