TheAlienNextDoor, 26 May 2021My phone's sensor is 1/1.72, while the ultra sensor is... moreEven if my phone has 1/1.28" camera sensor, I wouldnt call it better than 1", Micro 4/3, even up to APSC sensor size. Phones might be better in JPEG advance processing, better DR in JPEG, but not RAW performance. Bigger sensor always better at RAW performance in photography, a lot of things can be played & edited later on.

On Videography side, please, phone camera doesnt come even close. Always looks overprocessed & oversharp with no controls to customized it. This actual camera has log file, quality up to 10 bit, pure RAW power to control. Professionals has a reason why they still stick with actual camera and always will be.

TheAlienNextDoor, 26 May 2021My phone's sensor is 1/1.72, while the ultra sensor is... moreWell, first of all it's Four Thirds...not three fourths. And this is 100% a camera that professionals use all the time. A little advice for the future would be to not say anything if you're not really knowledgeable on the topic. I know it's a phone website, but saying that it's comparable to phones is about as laughable as you saying full frame is the only way to go.

I wouldn't buy a contrast based AF camera at this price.

Comparisons show that the quality compared with 1 inch sensors and even aps-c sensors, all the way to 1/2.55 sensors is almost identical. While phones record light years better videos than cameras.

Just google or search on youtube comparisons between the RX100 VII, or even various mirrorless cameras, compared to the S21 or iPhone 12.

Only a complete lunatic would buy a camera instead of a phone.
Being a professional is a different thing but then this camera isn't meant for professionals.

Unless going for a full frame sensor never buy a camera. Three fourths is laughable.

Smartphone cameras are much better than carrying all this bulk. Better spend on a better expensive camera smartphone than this

TheLastOracle, 26 May 2021"However, this isn't a bad thing, as the GH5M2 is... moreI think the extra 100 is include built-in VLog L but not clearly mentioned.

It's funny how dpreview is sometimes posting phone releases and gsmarena is sometimes posting camera releases.

I guess it's becoming harder to distinguish cameras from phones and one day they could even merge into one.

"However, this isn't a bad thing, as the GH5M2 is being launched at $400 lower than the launch price of the GH5 and starts at $1699."

The difference between $1999 and $1699 is actually $300, not $400.

TheAlienNextDoor, 26 May 2021Great camera, horrible price. Just a month ago I was on ... moreActually the fact that it offers 10bit is incredible. The GH5 has been a camera beyond its time, and this upgrade is actually incredible. Good luck getting your small 1/3 inch sensor on your phone to record something similar. I see beginning professionals use the GH5 all the time. This is a well positioned camera.

What's the point in buying this? There's almost nothing different from the Mark I... I would either buy the original GH5 or wait until the GH6 comes out.

                      Great camera, horrible price.

Just a month ago I was on the verge of buying a new camera. I couldn't believe the outrageous prices of 1 inch cameras, let alone aps-c cameras + lenses.

In the end I watched a few youtube videos, saw that phones take 99% same quality pictures, but record better videos, and just bought a new phone.

Got a great deal as well, traded in my s10e and $400 for a brand new s21+.
Now try to find half a deal like that for a RX100, let alone a GH5II.

There's a reason the camera industry is falling apart.
