True also, that they release similar models, but with different chipsets, just for the sake of it. Or release two similar models (identically almost), but just with different names. Just enter on the Xiaomi web page here on arena and you will see what I mean.
Those names are confusing. People just look at the chipset nowadays to get an idea in which category they can put that particular model. But, many times even that can be tricky. Because an inferior chipset phone, can have more benefits than a more powerful chipset phone but with less features elsewhere.
But, it is what it is. Is their business model in recent years. Sadly, they are not the only ones who use this business model.

        Waiting for lab test. I want to know the battery efficiency on video playback, web browsing and talk time. Can this phone be battery efficient like the snapdragon phones? Still weighing if I will by this poco M3 pro, redmi note 9t or Oppo A74 5g. Whichwwwhh

          there are lots and lots of people who can not afford a 150+ USD smartphone. they only change phones if a phone fail. and this happens because very few brands actually release reliable budget phones. that is why Xiaomi plays around with tweaking and tuning cheap phones to cater to wider array of demands for poor people around the world.

          and, speaking of M3 and M3 Pro - these 2 are very different phones.

          M3 has slower SoC, but bigger battery and sturdier, thicker case; its screen, though not bright enough for outdoor use, is actually very decent and surprisingly color accurate with great contrast. it also got plenty of UFS 2.1 storage and pretty d stereo speakers, which is really nice for watching videos in landscape mode.

            Why they aren't releasing so many phones in the high mid-range category or flagship category? Simple, because people don't buy this models in high quantities. So, it wouldn't be profitable to do this.
            Of course, is not only Xiaomi doing this. But in recent years, is just gotten worse.

                      But why the need from Poco and Redmi to do this kind of stuff? I mean release a slightly better phone (with 2-3 new features), put a little higher price and tadaaa new phone. And this done each 3 months.
                      This goes to show you (at least in the budget category), they don't care about the customers at all. They just want people to change phones as frequently as possible.

                        The back design looks bad. I still prefer the vanilla one.
