And this is Sony fault! That's why Xiaomi is the winner and way to go.

Since Sony doesn't sell phones in my country, following your advice even Xperia 1 II will cost an arm and a leg just because of taxes (15%), customs fees, shipping etc. So international online purchase from Sony website is an options for out-of-mind Sony fans with big pocket.

      Alpha, 31 May 2021All the other brands fanboys cry no in-screen fps, no notch... moreThat's true. I've never really done or "got" the 'fanboy' thing. I like Sony, I like Samsung, I've warmed back to Apple.

      I've actually got a Galaxy S10 at the moment and it's the first Samsung i've had - i'm happy with it and it does a great job.

      I like Samsung and I think they make great products but they too have started to churn out more "generic" handsets rather than something unique and different.

      I wish more brands would take time to release something new rather than releasing a "new" product every 9 to 12 months with minor updates at best.

          I've had Xperia's in the past and I genuinely think they are great phones. Sony aren't afraid to bring something different to the table - especially in a tech world where 80+% of smartphones are now the same with a different badge to differ them or "badge engineered".
          Frame-Mounted FPS? No Problem!
          3.5mm headphone jack? No Problem!
          M-SD slot? Even Better!

            And I will now take my time and explain you what's going on here. This shot is pretty challenging for any point and shoot camera as you are shooting from the shade directly into the lit objects, kind of like tunnel shots.

            1) Mi11 Ultra in auto mode outputs an image that is really not what you see in order to correct exposure and wrongly adjusts color and contrast. It's a fail pretty much. City in the background has no shadows instead it has haze which in real life it's not there. In real life city in the background has harsh shadows and highlights but Mi11 Ultra processing lifts up those shadows to reveal some details and completely kills the contrast on both skyline and the bridge. Lifted shadows also make clouds look like a amateur photoshop job. Auto mode also adds saturation all over the place, it adds magenta (something Sony does as well) to the sky so sky is purple instead of blue but more importantly roofs and their shadows have ton of blue and magenta in them which is again bad job. Building to the left is HDRed to oblivion, completely fake looking, like a drawing. By looking at this image could you tell what time of the day is out there? I'm pretty sure you will get it wrong and that's because Mi11 Ultra post processing renders something that is simply not there!

            2) Without any processing Mi11 Ultra delivers true to life image but it struggles with exposure like most of of the point and shoot cameras would do. Roofs are all underexposed, pretty much laying there in the dark. But! City and the bridge and sky is actually true to life, all of them are tad but underexposed but what you see in that image is pretty much how it looks in real life. Skyline has harsh shadows and violent contrast because sun is hitting it at the low angle. Shadows are real and deep. Contrast is real. Color is close to real as well, there is no blue/magenta cast. Clouds are as natural as they can be on a point and shoot camera. But the trade off is that you can't expose the whole image properly as you can see.

            So conclusion is Mi11 Ultra does not have optimized image post processing, it has very aggressive one that renders the output unrealistically. Actually it takes a very good original image and ruins it like an amateur using Photoshop.

            I am not saying that any of Xperias are any better than this, they are not so this is not Xperia vs Mi11 Ultra post, it's just a post how post processing can go wrong and it does go wrong in this case. Absolute worst flagship that has completely failed this same exact shot is Huawei Mate 40 Pro. RYYB sensor just cant get it right.

              Here's a better one, if the physical fingerprint reader was not broken, what's the harm in having that option for those who don't want it in the screen?

                  7.5 W charging...what a joke! Someone remind Sony we're not living in 2015. Nowadays even $100 phones have at least 18W charging!

It's up to you to make it the most out of it, you know gotta read the manual first. It's really hard to argue with people who haven't used it and go on picking up misinformation from forums. If you think that images with no shadows, highlights, no contrast and toxic saturation are good images then just stick with what makes you happy.

                      Really looking forward to this phone's review!

                        for that price, there is oneplus 8/T with flagship specs bro ... flagship specs !

                          Sony can borrow money at zero interest rate.
                          They don't need to make profit at all as it is mainly owned by japanese central bank.
                          Yet it's selling SD 690 phone for 400$euro in a redmi note 10 world

It's just same old tech. I personally don't want to see it on over $1000 phone. Having it on X 10 III is absolutely fine though.

                                      Except for the premium range (Xperia 1 and 5), it's always a 7.5 watt charger.

                                      To be fair though, many people have a decent fast charger lying around which they can use in place of the bundled one.
