Dimensity 900 seems to be the hottest choice for the users and I think there could be a couple of smartphones coming soon with it.

Mediatek is better than SD and will finish them

Anonymous, 06 Jun 2021Thanks for your information... I know the problem was seen... moreYes, they added oppo's response. Pcmark is still trash, even 3.0, atleast for my sd 855 phone, and pretty much all sd other sd 855 too it seems. It scores same as your redmi note 8 pro. The prime core isnt even getting used. Not even for a second.

Mediatek sux, 06 Jun 2021Bad buzz how? Do you know how they found out about cheating... moreThanks for your information...
I know the problem was seen by a comparison between Dimensity and Helio. So maybe it's not bad buzz, right.

But this article was a little modified...I read it again only today.

I personnaly join Anandtech to explain the problem of PCMark to explain the problem of unused big cores on PCMark even during webbrowsing simulation when regular webbrowsers such as Chrome use them.
They answer me they won't do further investigation.

I maintain "cheating" was a detail compare to abnormal PCMark's behavior (on work 2.0 version but not on today's 3.0).

Most other media spread the information without any investigation...and without saying Dimensity serie isn't involved.
Now, on each article about Mediatek you can read comment about cheating.

Anonymous, 06 Jun 2021Maybe bad buzz... Media uses to be unfair. Same things ... moreBad buzz how? Do you know how they found out about cheating? Because the helio had a higher score than the dimensity. And about qualcomm, the oppo reno device with 765g had no such cheatcode. And from oppo -

"Oppo had reached out to us regarding the whitelist; the company had removed this in the first public OTA of the phone, however the settings persisted in the cache of the device. Resetting the phone to factory defaults on the new firmware removes the detection, and the abnormal benchmark scores are gone.

It's to be noted that seemingly Oppo wasn't fully aware of the mechanism - and there was confusion as to how properly disable it. It points out that MediaTek has this mechanism enabled by default in their BSP."

You know why anandtech removed 3dmark from their list? They suspected qualcomm of cheating. They didnt find any code, but think its some low level cheating. They say about it in one of their galaxy or something articles.

From looking at antutu may rankings, it seems if theres any cheating going on, its just the gaming phones and chinese brands. The soc doesnt matter, samsung seems to have stopped cheating.

            Media uses to be unfair.
Same things happen with devices using Qualcomm's. Media said : "Oneplus cheated or Realme cheated but never Qualcomm cheated"

Anonymous, 05 Jun 2021Isn't mediatek the company that was recently found to ... moreOnly on Helio serie...
It's only scheduling, not overclocking or anything else...gain is small on apps that work properly.

                  The problem is on PCMark.
Without that scheduling, PCMark forgets to use big cores.

A new version of PCMark was released a few days ago (work 3.0).
Before that, PCMark wasn't updated during nearly 4 years (august 2017, work 2.0)

Here are my scores on Redmi Note 8 Pro :
                  PCMark Work 3.0 :
                  - Playstore : 10157
                  - Cloned app (to disable so-called cheating) : 10214 nearly no difference!
                  PCMark Work 2.0 :
                  - Playstore : 10107 big cores involved
                  - cloned app : 8219 no big core involved during all the test

As there's a browser test in PCMark, I run Chrome with a monitoring app in background, big cores are involved.

So called cheating was a detail! Problem was PCMark!
Sad that Anandtech refused to make further investigation when I explained my analysis to them.

DroidBoye, 05 Jun 2021Is there any MTK variant that has same hardware with D900 m... moreNo...
Mediatek's more powerfull soc is Helio G95...I think it's more close to Dimensity 720's power.

                        You will get mt8195 too, 6nm, Cortex A78, Mali G57mp5...but it's for tablettes/chromebook. No 5G, but no 4G too

Is there any MTK variant that has same hardware with D900 minus the 5G but has better GPU instead?

hsve very close specs & scores to SD780
                                  NO DOUBT

even some places have better act

LMAO there's no way this will beat SD 778, but at least it has AV1 decoding, and cost less :)
