Found too many downsides on this phone...
Notch (better than punch holes though)
Keyless
Curved screen
No 3.5mm headphone jack
Not enough RAM and storage
Generally LG makes great phones, but since the Velvet I see fewer and fewer LG characteristics than before (although with some new ones added). Sad to see LG sacrificing too much to follow the so-called "trends" at least after the G8X.

No headphone, notch, curved screen, perhaps no memory card. I can buy any other flagship for same features I don't need. They've removed everything I loved my G6 for.

Keyless phone sounds grest and all, but what if the phone hangs? You have to wait until the battery depleted to 0% before you can turn it on again by connecting it to a charger? Not cool.

It really was the last truly ugly Android. So many interface elements are rough at the edges and just why doesn't the app drawer autosort even in the last version?
LG hardware was generally very good but it's IS modifications we're incomprehensible.

>> The LG Velvet didn’t revitalize the company’s smartphone business as it had hoped. It was one pricey mid-ranger with a neat design ...
That's the problem: The Velvet is a mid-ranger that IMHO would have been a great success if a high-end device with the same great design had also come along.

wongwatt, 04 Jun 2021No headphone jack - that wouldn't have gone down well ... moreI do use an LG phone at the moment. I definitely wouldn't say that LG UX is the best UI out there, stock AOSP UI still wins my heart. But I have definitely seen worse UI than LG UX. So not great, but not terrible either.

They invested over $ 1 bi in exchange of the right to use patents and part of the employees.

No headphone jack - that wouldn't have gone down well at all.
And if it still ran the pointlessly uglified LGUX it would have continued to look dated as soon as you switched it on.
I don't think we've missed out on much here.

Well some comopanies were so expensive and offered so low for asked price that they litterary desired doom like extinct.
HTC almost died. Apple will be finnish too if China stops supporting this overexpricey company and like USA tell to all chinese companies to stop cooperating with US companies.
Well noone gets satisfied like what happened with Huawei but all get what they asked for.
At least ordinary people will ahve some peace in mind not being dragged to something like war between most rich companies and people of the planet.

I'm not sure if we want that kind of failure again, especially when Windows Phone OS is still my top favourite mobile OS to this day. If any company would want to buy LG's smartphone division, they must be purely enthusiastic about making great and exciting smartphones, not just simply to fill in the account department books.

Maybe this could actually be the new V70 but LG thought of making it as the Pro moniker for the Velvet 2 family instead. Sadly though, I don't see any headphone jack port at all, which is totally unusual for LG. A headphone jack with Quad DAC has always been a necessity for flagship-grade LG smartphones. They never follow the top brands' practice of dropping the headphone jack for the flagship models. LG deeply know that DAC audio never works at all with a wireless Bluetooth connection.

I really hope most of the LG mobile assets get bought by another company which will start the business back up, like blackberry and Motorola.
