Lccy, 09 Jun 2021The article does not tell the whole truth CD quality is ... moreIf you really want to enjoy music you need analogue. You shot yourself in the foot when you said hard drive.

"Also to dispel another popular myth, if your music is in AAC and your Bluetooth headphones and device are using AAC for transmission, the music will still get compressed and re-encoded, and not just sent through as-is."

I'm pretty sure that's not what the A2DP says so, I would love a source for that.

As long as you buy intelligently instead of cult focused. A pair of 50 buck headphones and a 100 buck music player can easily reproduce music way beyond what mp3 offers.
If you pay 550 bucks for a pair of crippled headphones from THAT logo brand, you will not hear the difference, as the headphones are fundamentally flawed.

There is no such thing as a perfect objective test.

zodiacfml, 09 Jun 2021good article, no false or incorrect information. All I co... moreThe article does not tell the whole truth

CD quality is not a gold standard, a sample rate of 44.1khz means you need a sharp brick wall low pass filter between 20khz and 22.05khz to prevent aliasing which is incredibly difficult and certain to produce audible artifacts most notable ringing leading to a lengthened impulse response.

I am passionate about hi res audio because it sounds way better than CD and makes music actually enjoyable.

A meta analysis finds a statistically significant albeit not big, but a preference for hi res audio.

Please try it yourself, you likely already have the hardware and hard drive space.

Anonymous, 09 Jun 2021Do you ever listened to high quality music?Yes of course. But read my comment again to understand it better.

I liked the last 2 paras in this article especially the last one lol.

Future of losseles audio lies in high precision (duble and higher [64 bit or higher]) floating point encoding for making it more streaming/storage friendly. Obviously people will ask how more can be less? Well because 44100 Hz 32 bit floating point (x.xx, two more decimal places or order of magnitude improvement) has SINAD of around 550 dB while 24 bit fixed point (only whole numbers no decimal places) has only 144 dB. That's 3.8x increase for 1.33x data. Of course you don't need more than 144 dB signal (best DAC's of today top at 126) but reproduction can be speed up/slowed down during encoding/decoding to retain SINAD of original 24 bit fixed point encoding, call it losseles compression if you wish (all do it's just simple math).

High res audio has to die, it is a waste in many factors. It's like looking at a display with ultraviolet and/or infra-red output.

ok ok I'm just kidding and making fun of audiophiles but please keep in mind without ,like 90% accurate blind test a lot of these things don't translate to the real world.

but even a ton of if not most professional musicians can't tell 128kbps and flac apart. trust me there are blind tests. do a proper test. there's some online!

"High-resolution does not mean lossless and lossless does not mean high-resolution. High-resolution can be in lossy or lossless formats. Lossless audio can be low or high-resolution. The two are distinct."

This is a very important point which people get confused and often switches among them. Good job specifying it.
