Lord Baldrick, 16 Oct 2012The good part about the Padfone 2 is that one Padfone stati... morewhat are you talking about? are you making sense?
if i share money to buy the phone and the dock station (the tablet) then my questions for you are:

                1. While you are using the phone on your hand, and the tablet on my hand, can i use the tablet like using any other tablets? will the tablet "WORK" ?

                2. If you and I can not use them as the "same time" then what is the point of sharing the cost? Why don't we just buy a $500 phone and a $500 tablet separately, so u and i can use one of the device at the same time? When u get bored with your device, we can exchange our device to each other.

my point is the asus pafone2 only allow us to use 1 device at a time, either phone or the tablet!...and we have to carry 2 devices on the street, somewhat is so inconvient to carry a bag to hold the tablet on your shoulder !

In my opinion, if you want something functionality combined 2 in 1, I will buy the Samsung Galaxy note2, because it got the powerful phone specifications plus the 5.5 inch big enough display as a mini tablet, and awesome samsung software features.

By the way, Asus have mainly disappointed me by throw away the bluetooth wireless stylus. This is the most important feature which allows you to write notes and also allows you to answer phone calls during you are using the tablet. I know that we can carry the bluetooth headset on our ears, but then it will be another inconvient to plug that thing on yous ear!. Do not tell me that you answer you phone call by holding the tablet up against your ear ! that will be so funny for people to laugh at you...lol, or unplug the phone from the tablet to answer the phone call, then there will be more inconvient things happens....etc.

I will only "CONSIDER" to buy this padfone 2 if it has the stylus pen like the first generation padfone, but then i will compare the software features of the phone to the samsung galaxy note2.....

at this present time, no other companies can be more innovative, intuitive then samsung interm of software invention, sorry to bash any other companies...SORRY. THAT WERE MY HONEST OPINIONS.

Anonymous, 17 Oct 2012you are right, samsung has been in the industry waaaayyy be... morestop with this "phablet" thing... gnote is a phone without a doubt... i use my samsung tab 7.7 as a phone:D and that fits easily in my one hand...

and this padphone does not blow gnote out of the water... although it is will be slightly more efficient(not by a whole lot and you won't ever notice the difference)... my only problem is that the padfone2 has the best chipset around(for now) and the tablet is only a measly 1280*800 only... why not a higher display as the hardware can certainly handle it.. i am so tired of low res displays on 10" screens and everything above 5" should be atleast 1080p(atleast in preimum devices)... also asus's ips panels are not good at all if you compare them to ipads... i sold my asus trasformer tf700 within a couple of days due to crap colors compared to my ipad3 and samsung tab 7.7

Zabuza, 17 Oct 2012Asus start to make phones since 2006 while samsung since 20... moreyou are right, samsung has been in the industry waaaayyy before asus, but that doesn't mean that the GNote II is better than this.. Spec wise, this blows the GNote II, but maybe the GNote II wins in terms of practicality (it's a phablet with an S-Pen attached to it after all) and software optimization..

but again, since GNote is phablet and Padfone is a phone (although it can be docked into a tablet chassis), the two are from a different league and class.. we can't compare them.. If you want to compare GNote, compare it vs the rumoured HTC phablet, or the LG Vu (which sucks btw), and compare the Padfone to SGS3, One X, Nexus 4 or the Optimus G..

                    Don't compare apple with orange..

theseeker, 16 Oct 2012Is Australia no more to be found on earth...ASUS treat Australia as a back water and don't see the Australian market as terribly important so I suspect you will not see the PADFONE 2 until July 2013. Unfortunately ASUS Australia are difficult to deal with and not terribly customer centric so they don't feature on my list of brands (PC, Tablets especially new Windows8 devices)leading up to Christmas. That aside, ASUS do make great products it's just a pity customer service lets them down.

Samsung has not been famous for anything in particular, but very famous for the fact of making everything. Believe it or not i got a Samsung washing machine. Samsung pretty caught on recently by making high specs smartphones, which btw i don't like so much, but my washing machine is peerless!
