                      The bump is circular but not spherical like a lens, so it's not related to how large its diameter is. But still the bump is made larger to highlight it as the key feature, to resemble a camera and to enable putting a cap on it.

That thing you are looking against the camera bump is actually the lens. The camera sensor itself is hidden inside that body. Learn the difference between 'lens' and 'sensor', they are not the same thing.
