Google chimes in about the fate of current Wear OS watches and the new update

18 June 2021
Google confirms that it has not yet cleared any current Wear OS device for the update, but there’s still time.

I own a pretty recent smartwatch, and I hope they won't be supported. If they are supported, it probably means that the new software is yet another half assed patch that follows the same model as it always has. If they want to succeed with this, they need to start over, from the ground up. And that means forgetting about the old hardware and infrastructure.

I have used Wear OS smart watches for years thinking it would improve over time, but over the years the UX experience and performance have been so disappointing I that finally gave up. Non Wear OS powered devices now offer pretty much all Wear OS was meant to deliver and are able to include 7 to 14 days battery life!
Not going Back to any Wear OS powered devices anytime soon. No thank you.

It has to be done right, yields have to be good and power leaks kept to a minimum etc. AMD now hols the performance crown on PC but, early efforts using new manufacturing procesees took a couple of generations mature and give the wanted results.

Why did they combine Samsung Watch OS and Google Wear OS when Fuchsia is only two years away.

Snapdragon 3100 should be phased out. And Snapdragon 4100+ should be updated. I mean Exynos 9110 is based on 10nm. But the other are based on 28nm! And 12nm.

Although I think all should refresh their smartwatch processor. All of them are still using ARM Cortex A53.
