The absolutely incomprehensible thing here is that while Nokia was clearly unable to sell the badly outdated Lumia 800 and Lumia 900 models they still refused to market and sell Nokia 808 Pureview to potential customers. That lead to further loss of smartphone sales and revenue in a situation where the company would have critically needed to sell smartphones and receive cash flow from them.

This demonstrates how unhealthy fixed Elop is to WP phones - he is driving the company to destruction instead of acting like a normal resbonsible CEO who would in such a situation utilize _all_ possible means of obtaining revenue. It is truly sad to see Nokia in this situation. First they lost their smartphone market share and brand due to the incompetence of Kallasvuo and now the company itself might face bankruptcy simply because Elop is obsessed by WP phones.

Sad to see this great company being destroyed.

Nokia should be fine with Windows Phone 8. They can get their phones to more carriers with WP8. They should make a Windows 8 and Windows RT tablet too.

Jolla mobile's event will make or break them and MeeGo. They promise something breathtaking so I'm eager to see what they have in store.

nowadays people know what is good or bad
you dont need to tell them it has this and this this...
once they got and used it they would say this is worth to buy..

and now you are saying that the mass smartphone consummers on the earth
are just stupids because they dont know how good nokia is and ms os is..
            i dont think so..
of course there are still significant number of people who just buy things
based on its brand but it may take a little time that people need to decide
what is good for them and now we can see nokia is falling down because
people think they are not that good
            no excuse

If they were still selling WP 7.5 Lumias the way they were back then, random Android fanboys on GSMArena wouldn't have become so happy saying "Nokia should have gone with Android" only because they miss actual high quality hardware to go with their low quality, cheap software that is Android.

The only mistake they made was announcing WP8 and their new phones WAY before they could actually launch them.
I mean, hell, it's obvious when you say "we'll have new phones in 2 months" people are going to wait for your new phones! And it's obvious you are going to report loss due to low sales of your soon-to-be-legacy phones.

You people underestimate Microsoft, the giant, though. It won't take long before Microsoft unleashes the rich Windows, XBox, Office, Windows Phone ecosystem and then I want to see how others are going to fill the void in their own lacking ecosystems.
Whoever sticks with Microsoft and their might in the Enterprise wins eventually. Elop sees this, you don't.

What a joke. Wp is much more closed. See the lumia line. Any skins on top that differs them from samsung n htc wp?? Look at android. Samsung can have touchwiz, htc can have sense, and so on and so forth. Microsoft just screwed nokia. They even delayed the sale of new nokia phones due to unfinished wp8 whilst killing the current product sales by announcing no wp8 for the current crops.

like google own motorola only for its patents, so microsoft want to destroy nokia and buy it very cheap for the same reason: patents. stinky rat elop did not want to make nokia's sales rise. he take the worsest marketing decisions in the history of capitalism, even a 8 years old could manage nokia better than this stinky rat,but is obvious he want to destroy nokia

Smartphone expert, 18 Oct 2012Nokia should never let symbian and meego die windows phone... moreso true. N9 was a great demo of what nokia can do, but they chose to use Windows mobile which cannot do multitasking like MeeGo does, and was not able to run on dual/quad core phones (what a shame for a company that does OS for a few decades!).

Well ... Nokia underestimated its rivals ....

it didnt came with android .. which cause failure ..

Apple also following him now a days ...

Nokia have to bring Android 3 to 4 models on immediate basis ... with auto charging like lumia 920 ...

not big screens have to be in 3.5 to 3.8 inchs ... which will hope less cost to him n will boost its sales ...

windows 8 . as i m seeing will get fail in all brands ....

Nokia have to take precautions under failure of windows 8 phs ....

symbian was gud software ... if it was countinued with higher hardware specs .. hope it showed good results welll ... lots of people ...lots of veiws..... lots of things have can debate on it ... Well NOKIA is best n my fav always .. ;-)

ThisGuyspeaksTruth, 18 Oct 2012This is by far the only guy who actually seems to understan... moreThat is where people like you mislead the whole consumer base without having sufficient and legit knowledge of the facts and figures.

Nokia DID NOT REJECT ANDROID. It was GOOGLE who TURNED NOKIA DOWN. WHY?

Because Nokia takes pride in its Research & Development. Nokia has a team of 12,000 software engineers which Nokia wanted to use for the further development of Android, improve the Personal Information Manager, use Nokia Maps which are better for offline navigation and develop built in specialized apps as they are doing with WP8. But it was GOOGLE's ARROGANCE not to let Nokia use the source code of Android which is the core of the OS. Nokia wanted to put its R&D into action for Android and provide a better consumer experience. But your dear Google didn't let them do it. Nokia would have been another Android distributor with a lost identity.

If consumers want Android running Nokia, they should have pressurized Google not Nokia. They have mentioned a zillion times that they considered all options available including

Development of Symbian but Symbian's code was already running out of hands, and hell lot of work was required to bring support for multi cores and HD screen and modern stuff plus it had already earned a bad reputation.

Meego, ecosystem was standing at nil. Further development costs would have ended up with Nokia's bankruptcy.

Android, Google did not let the access to the Android code & use Nokia maps.

WP, a developing ecosystem with support for modern specs like multi core processors, HD screens & hell lot of connectivity options etc. And of course, injunction of cash for pushing the OS. Microsoft letting Nokia to make alterations in the OS according to their hardware & software needs.

Which one was the right option for a company who takes pride in innovation & bringing something different on the table? Distributing Android or adopting something new which would let them do what they want?
