AnonD-26815, 19 Oct 2012"specs/price ratio is the ultimate criteria and not wh... moreOf course Nokia has these strong points and more, they were leading the global market for these reasons.
It doesnt mean that these reasons are for the benefit of their clients though. (thats why they were fallen apart once this became obvious)
Ex for for some, marketing, hype and patents means nothing. On the contrary, they lose respect on the company that relies on those tactics to thrive instead of building a better device, more worthy of its price tag.
Considering they are competing in the same OS enviroment, the comparisons are far more direct/intimate and hype/marketing plays a smaller role.
Nokia could not make the difference as before, solely relying on hype, marketing, and corporal agreemeants,
as they have been doing all along.
If their products were offering exactly the same features (considering that the open OS provides the same for all), with the competition,
the most important/decisive factor would be the specs/price ratio.
And as the competition is so high, they should be competitive in that sector, which was never their strong point and as history has already proved, they where months/years behind competition in touchscreens/smartphones market...
So the only actual choice to preserve their prestige and the hyped up image, was not to fight a war that cant win and fight one they can.
In the Windows OS, with that exclusive deal, they maintain the upper hand, even if they cant compete in the specs war, as MS will get sure that its OS is optimally run by Nokias and will impose specs restriction that could overthrow that balance.
I am sure that Nokia ppl were not stupid enough to think that Windows could compete with Android, but this was the only option to save their prestige and avoid direct competition.
Even now, with all those limitations the Windows platform has, many of their die hard fans, have found a way to convince themselves, that this alternative can be better and since there is no direct way to make a comparison, they can stay deluded, as they so wish.
At least this way, Nokia gets to keep some of their most fanatic fans and this demonstrates how right they were to avoid direct competition.
If they were competing in the Android market, with their current or earlier line up (spec wise) and the prices they had/have, they would lose even more market share and most important, hard earned brand prestige.

                Like:
                1-LCD Amoled = Samsung
                2-Internal Flash = Samsung
                3-RAM = Samsung
4-Body = Made from cheap soda cans "Aluminum"
                5-Camera lens = carl zeiss
                6-Camera Sensor = Sharp
                7-CPU/GPU = Qualcomm
                8-3G/4G radio = Ericsson

So you admit that Nokia had so many strong points( especially soft development and patent control- you don't get so many patents without innovating) while all the Android manufacturers have only one strong point- Cheap hardware. No Thanks!!

NEC was and is innovative while samsung is only a copycat. they cant produce a dumbfone os let alone a smartphone os. they can only piggy back on copied innovation( Android ) and sell their cheap processors and ram to make you think that they are innovative. how is adding more cores and more ram innovation. also the chip architecture is done by ARM and not samsung. Also all Nokia haters are the ones who at some point of time in the past just could not afford to buy their phones( while they were the best in pre iphone days). Also All these so called well ishers of nokia advising them to use Android are the people stuck with laggy samdungs and HTCs and think that if Nokia starts making Android then they will get a good hardware and Nokia will fix all the problems in Android (lag, malware, battery killer, etc.) but sorry to dissapoint you. Not going to happen! Android can't be fixed. Also all advocates of open source are the cheapos who can't pay for apps and hide their cheapness behind such principles as open source BS. now go on check on your lagdroid. maybe it needs to be charged again.

anyway. .there is no way in comparing WP8 to WP7/7.5 or 7.8, wp8 is not a descendant of wp7. Wp8 is actually built totally from Windows 8 ( not from windows CE), so there is probably 200 new features in it. So Windows PC 8, RT, and PHONE 8 are all sisters. Making them really very compatible. Just so you know
