I for on... moreDepends on genre/style/effects you want to produce. To each its own.
But before applying those style/effects, the image itself should score on the most important things such as details, ISO noise level, exposure & dynamic range. A bright low light pictures can easily edited later on on how much darker shadows/exposure you want, while retaining good details. An underexposed & darker than actual scene with limited details that cant resolve later on is a big no.
Of course smartphone has hardware limitation. Thats where computational JPEG processing comes. RAW in smartphone is far from fetch (depends on sensor size & lens quality, the bigger, the better). Lets not talk about actual camera, as its hardware alone are far superior. Keep it between smartphones.

I for one don't care about mobile low light photos nor video cause they are all crap so I fail to see how mobile low light photography can be of any quality

The guy was making it look like it's either Sony or Apple for the Japanese people.
In reality, it's only Apple and rest of the breadcrumbs are shared between Samsung, Huawei, Sony, etc.
When your own countrymen aren't interested in a homegrown product, one can conclude that Sony have fallen short of meeting the expectations of Japanese people.

Your only ... moreHuawei P30 at the same time when Ive tested 1II (my friend have one) at ultra low light and the results was the same at Auto night mode and manual ISO1600 exept that Xperia makes better colour at night - more precise.
Huawei at night don't see blue colour correctly. So if 1II is the same at night like P30 its good phone.

Anonymous, 25 Jun 2021Amazing night mode? Lol the one that turns night into day??... moreI agree their software and image processing algorithms have improved compared to previous Xperias but it is still a notch behind other flagships with big boy sensors.
I wish Sony gave their camera software development to Google instead of the alpha team.
The alpha team can work on the pro version of the app while the stock camera should be replaced by gcam for great images in Auto mode.
