Dometalican, 24 Jun 2021Why is that MediaTek's fault? That's the phones f... moreYes. That's on mediatek.
To get new android = Phone maker + OS maker + chip maker.

Chip maker : needs to release drivers for the OEM.
OS maker : needs to keep compatibility with the chips, SD801 is 32bit and could not have android 7.
OEM: needs to want to update device

      1) dimensity 2000 is 2022 chip.
      2) with current best mediatek, if 5iii had it, it would lose 4K@120 recording, the DDR5 ram.
      3) it would have much weaker GPU and CPU compared to 1iii, it would be weaker than 5ii.

No brand is gonna use mediatek chip for phones over $700. Simply because Qualcomm chips are miles better.
The only mediatek chips worth using are P series for midranges, the are as good as Qualcomm 6xx series, despite lack of 4K recording on most.

More pie-in-the-sky-pricing by Sony who seem to think people are stupid enough to pay north of 500 quid for a mobile phone.

Anonymous, 24 Jun 2021And lose all features they can get from Qualcomm chip? LO... moreWhy is that MediaTek's fault? That's the phones fault for not updating. As for features, Qualcomm still doesn't have AV1 support and at least Dimensity is more efficient and cheaper. LG made a version of the Velvet with Dimensity and it worked out fine in the States.

            LOL ......

In case you do not remember, phones with mediatek never get second update.
            Just one.

Anonymous, 24 Jun 2021I don't know why Apple, Samsung and Sony opens pre-ord... moreEasy. Buy the phone , if you are not satisfied, just return it.
In less than 24h, I am 100% sure if I am satisfied or not with the device.

Internet is full of sponsored youtubers.
Poor reviews that never talk about screen colour accuracy, advanced audio analysis, real life battery test etc ..

Nothing more stupid than review that runs antutu 3 times in sequence. Judge screen by amount of hertz and brightness, battery test that is just benchmark/games, audio test that judges loudness, camera test that compare cameras of different sensor size/different focal lengths/different settings.

You do not need to understand tech to make review like this.

Anonymous, 24 Jun 2021So almost 4 months after the reveal. Better than last year ... moreI'd love for Sony to use Dimensity 2000 for the upcoming 5 along with 830 (or whatever) for the 10. With the increase in pricing, Sony should look into those chipsets to price their phones more competitively without sacrificing much of anything.

925€ is not that bad I guess. I expected worse pricing

Anonymous, 24 Jun 2021I don't know why Apple, Samsung and Sony opens pre-ord... moreReviews mean nothing today. OnePlus sends huge promotional packages for day zero reviews which are nothing more but infomercial for the product, "reviewers" are told what to talk about first in order to keep receiving the packages every year. No wonder there is very little critique when it comes to OnePlus on day zero reviews. That same reviewer has to go and buy Sony or LG or Oppo Find X phones if they want to review them so they get to say whatever they want for their own money.

[deleted post]Oh really? As far as I like Sony.. I wanted to buy 1 mk II or 5 mk II in march, but prices of both phones were increasing(?).. phones from 2020? I Bought S21 because it was available soon after release, and, thanks to samsung cashback, it was much cheaper than 5II, not to mension 1II. Sony's pricing policy is ridiculous, phone availability.. no coment. Sony must realize that thats not the way. But tyeh made the same flop like in 2020. I was waiting for 1III, but.. august? really?

I don't know why Apple, Samsung and Sony opens pre-orders before any reviews of their phones are released. Are they that afraid of bad reviews ruining their pre-orders? Why should anyone buy their phones on a leap of faith?

Damn those prices are unreal... But why do I still want one! 😩😍

I wish Sony could release their phones earlier. August is too late. All the other companies are preparing to release their next phone by now and Sony will be a year behind from everyone else.

Keep up the good work, maybe consider a launching a mid-range with SD780G/Dimensity 1100/1200 while you are at it.
