19 October, 2012
A recent leak suggests the next Nexus phone might actually have a 16 gig version beside the 8GB one.

Nexus are not 'just for developers' any more and they were never meant to be so either.
You know Nexus 7 is the best selling android tablet ever? So, customers are well aware of them and want them! and Google is more serious in selling them too.

Nexus devices for google are "flagships & top of the line devices that can show what newer iteration of android is capable of" and for users they are "pure google experience with quick updates" and for developers they are "devices to test their apps with latest iteration of the platform!"

Regarding all the discussion thats going on about the sd card slot,
I guess the most probable reason for not offering a sd card slot is that sd cards are very slow in data transfer. Even cards of higher class don't speeds offer speeds of internal storage. Most of the ppl out there, buy a smartphone and snap in a 10$ mem card of 32GB!!

All the hard work that google makes in calibrating the os in making the phone snappier and smooth kind of goes in vain, with sd cards acting as bottle necks for performance!!
this especially makes a difference when you move an app to SD!

But anyway there r ppl who would trade a little performance for a extra Gigs of space. So why not leave it to the customer to decide or offer 64 and 128 GB models.. interested fellas will buy one if they wil....

AnonD-59657, 20 Oct 2012Any idea why HTC or Google Nexus does not offer expanded me... moreNexus devices aren't intended for daily usage which can fill your storage. These phones are developing tools for people who know what's what. Developing made on Nexus devices help users like me and you have a lot of bug free, performant devices in the future.

AnonD-59657, 20 Oct 2012Any idea why HTC or Google Nexus does not offer expanded me... moreThey decided to do this because the media from sdcard has a different security profile than the internals of Android OS. If you would have an external SD then Android partitioning on the internal SD must be done differently than in the case that the phone does not have an extended SD. As long as Android has control on what you write and what what you delete on the phone's storage ... everything is more simple.

Nowadays, the minimum internal memory in high end smartphone should be at least 32G if there is no expanded memory (micro SD slot)!

They should also offer 64G & 128G versions!

This is probably my 3rd post on this thread, but what the hell is lg and google thinking?

Just make a 16gb(at least) model +microsd and this phone will be one of the most successful phones of history (well at least the next 1,5years :p). There is no way this phone will have even moderate success if it is only released as 16gb non expandable storage. It only costs like 10euro to add microsd support, they can gain millions of buyers just by doing this. Even if many people claim that lg sucks (I own an optimus 2x and yes customer support sucks) this is a nexus phone. 16gb interal with microsd card support is guaranteed success.

Actually based on rumors, the sony X also known as sony nexus X was fake, but the nexus based on htc butterfly J seems pretty legitimate. I don't know if the other 5inch screen Sony phone might be adopted to a nexus phone but it is possible. Just saying the sony nexus X was fake.

I am so incensed by this continuous struggle to get OEMs to incorporate ample int storage or the ability to expand it in their devices...Google and their Nexus OEMs are guilty of this. We the ones paying for and who will be using these devices want the peace of mind of knowing the device will be capable of handling a reasonable amount of local storage and also using SD cards if needed. Even Apple who we all accuse of making one size fits all devices...at least serves up devices with different storage sizes (16/32/64GB), even though they also fail to include SD cards. I Love my Nexus devices but i want ample storage in them and SD card expansion.

but why would google design a phone again that is under spec .... same thing they did with the samsung galaxy gsm version 16gb no micro sd and 5 meg camera...

docentore, 20 Oct 2012what is 8g? 8th generation? 32nd generation?8g or correctly written 8gb is known as 8gigabytes or the amount of storage space is on the phone.

Technically when it's just written "g" instead of "gb", "g" usually does stand for "generation" but in this case, it's "gb" or "GigaByte". 8gb can fill up with technically about 2 SD movies or 1 HD Movie.

Sony can't release a Nexus phone because Sony hasn't got any performance phone whatsoever, only mid-end phones.
