Even then, you can't stop anyone from leaking. Not for now, at least.
Let's say I work in one of those companies that have access to the product well before its launch. I cannot take pictures to leak, but I do have eyes. I can always look at it, draw it on a piece of paper in a place that's not recorded (bathroom?), take that paper with me and share it with someone who knows enough CAD to rebuild the picture properly.

Even if I didn't do that within the company, I could always draw the phone at home and share the data.

Anony, 09 Jul 2021LOL you do realize the vast majority of the so called "... moreI'm glad someone mentioned it. It's clear that a lot of these 'leaks' are from the brand itself, especially when it gets closer to release. OnePlus is the worst offender at this. It's a drip-feed way of generating hype and interest.

Anonymous, 09 Jul 2021Which youtubers? What models?I remember some MI phones getting reviewed by Indian youtubers, such as the Mi 11, that too the vegan leather version which I don't know if it has even ever been released outside of China. Plus the Mi 11 ultra reviews before shipping was announced outside of China. I dunno about Sammy phones...

TheLastOracle, 09 Jul 2021Samsung should stop following Apple in bad policies. Apple ... moreApple makes least incriment because they are already the best for many people.Do you know what intel did before amd ryzen era?.Intel also did the same thing cause that time they were best so give very small incriment rename it and sell it at higher price.Apple A14 is still ahead of sd888 amd exynos 2100 so why they would waste their money giving large incriment just give small incriment; people will buy their phone anyway.

Anonymous, 09 Jul 2021Which youtubers? What models? There was a guy (he has twitter account), he had photos and info months before

what a BS,, many of those "leaks" are actually from PR itself

controlled Leaks to boost hype before launch and confuse competitors

Samsung should stop following Apple in bad policies. Apple makes the least incremental improvements in hardware and software so it needs to protect its leaks, to prevent users from waking up. Samsung has been improving its mid range as well as its flagships, especially the foldable section. Samsung's crackdown could affect user curiosity and may reduce excitement in upcoming products.

I see this as a double-edged sword. On one hand, this can prevent consumers from getting overhyped on a possible upcoming product. But on the other hand, we wouldn't know what kind of new phone the brand is working on.

44alexsmith, 09 Jul 2021That bites. The leaks help me to plan my next move.LOL you do realize the vast majority of the so called "leaks" are controlled release by appointed PR firms for said companies? Price leaks and spec leaks are just to get feelers from the target market. It is a common business tactic these days. You are definitely not in control, they control you!

You will be in control when you stop caring for leaks, then they cant get their ways.

                          Finally 👏💪

Solun1, 09 Jul 2021That's completely untrue. If they wanted leaks, they&#... moreExactly. Them teasing their new products is more effective than just "letting others leak it". That is also what other OEMs do, and they generate much more hype and interactions with their social media accounts that way, which translates into follows, which translates into high quality, fully controlled advertising all year long. Why have random people with shaky 2MP cameras leak a blurry and sometimes heavily censored picture to their own followers when even news outlets will repost everything they tease on social media? It does not make any sense.

shut up sammy. you're leaking your own devices. you pay leakers to leak your products. all these leaks are fake anyway so, this article isn't even as great.

If they wanted leaks, they'd just announce little information bits on their own channels. They could control it. This way leaks happen with ugly content (really bad photos of new devices etc.) and when the announcement day comes no one is even excited anymore which is really bad for pre-orders.

Oh please....Samsung (et al.) love leakings. It's free advertisement and it builds up hype. Samsung's marketing team are the ones doing their "controlled" or timely leaks. They're all planned.
