Valve Steam Deck is a handheld gaming PC that runs SteamOS

15 July 2021
Runs custom AMD APU with Zen 2 CPU and RDNA 2 GPU. Starts at $399.

Nintendo Switch is an another thing since its games are exclusive and designed primarily for this console unlike the PC games that steam system will run. Looking at it, steam deck would be a hefty device with poor battery for 3D games and not to say it would probably be on fire even when trying out a higher end game from a few years ago. The point is, there are more ways to enjoy PC games.

Really disappointed by its limited availability. Too bad it won't be available in many parts of Asia where Steam games are actively sold. Major missed opportunity IMO.

The starting price means it's gonna be the death of gaming phones 😮, especially since Windows 11 will be able to run android apps

Pretty cool handheld console. I would love to have this.

the tech nerd, 16 Jul 2021This just sounds really awesome 😅, i wish it came to India ... moreAlso forgot to say best device for katana zero game😂(awesome game check it out just played it last weekend)

This just sounds really awesome 😅, i wish it came to India but i know india isn't it's market, need something other than work laptop and my terribly shitty college laptop and this sounds perfect, I am going to buy a fhd monitor soon in a sale or something so this would have been a perfect pairable device with it(and my Bluetooth keyboard) 256gb version specially but honestly 16gb ram sounds overkill😅😅 also it doesn't have docking device to pair it with display while connecting mouse and charging it to run on full load

That price looks decent. Would love to pick one up just to tinker with the hardware.

They should've gone for a super AMOLED display from samsung with at least 1080p resolution
I think there are titles that don't even support 720p now.. (I am not sure about this. So don't start an argument over this please).
Anyway I would've liked a higher resolution and an 1TB option.

My God, Archlinux. Not exactly the most stable linux distro you can use but definitely the most versatile. Not sure why they're not basing it on Debian like SteamOS.

They nailed the design. I don't mind IPS, good IPS panels are excellent, especially since the best gaming monitors on the market use IPS instead of OLED. But even for 7" HD+ seems a bit low. FHD would've been better for marketing. Also this handheld is running on a battery, so maybe that would actually be a reason for going OLED?

Too bad this an eBay scalper's product. Expect the $399 base model to be $1200 on eBay and don't expect to get one for retail or even find one online for the next 2 years. They're basically like Air Jordan 1s in OG colorway. Like 99% of the people who wants this won't find these in stock once released.

The Nintendo Switch Pro we deserved but never got. Pay attention the most to the price: $399

The Onexplayer which is also a PC handheld will cost $1150. Early bird price is $900. The Switch OLED is $50 cheaper but this Steam Deck has four times the teraflops. It's basically a slightly more powerful PS4 handheld.

This is a dream machine for emulation. To me, $399 is reasonable considering what you are getting. There are Chinese handhelds that run emulators that go for $200. Their specs are crap. Be lucky of you get N64 games to run well.

Maybe at 10-15 fps if thats playable for you. I dont think that i can even play any title with my dirt old pc i5 4gen with gtx 970 that should be better then 1050 on desktop so basically will be for sure better then a laptop version of it when laptops dont have much space for cooling and getting the head out. But tbh i dont play at the moment nothing cause i have like room temperature of 30c and maybe next week the heat starts to go down. As of now i tried to play AC Valhalla that runs great at 60 fps but all fans in my atx box were at maximum and it sounded like a tractor so i rather not do any heavy task before the heat problem in weather is over
