Xiaomi lost a big potential to jump into Huawei's place after the US sanctions in many of the markets, in Middle East for example, the Huawei passed Samsung in sales and suddenly the US sanctions came, Xiaomi has branches here and only sells vanilla phones and not selling its flagships here, we are in Middle East and people are rich here, bring your expensive phones and build your image

ZUNAYED ROZEN, 16 Jul 2021In my concern what if xiaomi faces the same ban as Huawai.THE REALLY SHORT VERSION:

Qualcomm and Xiaomi are basically brothers. You cannot seperate them, due to how close they are.

                  THE REALLY LONG VERSION:

There's no way that will happen, unless USA wants to seriously carve into their own skin.

Xiaomi is Qualcomm's arguably biggest customer (I mean, Samsung uses Exynos chips in most of their markets) And they have tons of agreements with American companies, most notably, Google and Qualcomm themselves. Xiaomi also gets first dibs on SD chips, meaning that they probably pay a pretty penny for getting these chips first. In other words, Xiaomi probably makes 10-20% of Qualcomm's profits.

As things currently stand, Xiaomi makes no 5G infrastructure, meaning that USA's Huawei/ZTE concerns don't matter for Xiaomi. The only thing that Xiaomi could be potentially under fire for, is regulations as a Chinese company. However, I don't think that it will happen, as it SHOULD have happened years ago if it was the case.

Finally, Qualcomm will RIOT if they lose Xiaomi, as losing Huawei seemed to aggrevate them due to the point of even making SD888 chips without 5G just to get money and push profit. I have no doubt that Qualcomm will unleash hell on the government if they slap Xiaomi on the Entity list as well. Besides, Xiaomi is a much easier company to defend than Huawei.

Oh! Time to sanction Xiaomi. Any fake BS accusations to fabricate?

Anonymous, 16 Jul 2021I wish I could be surprised that millions of people across ... moreSame "agreements" with any other western companies.

"Xiaomi's shipments increased more than 300% in Latin America, 150% in Africa, and 50% in Western Europe."

If Samsung targets the same markets as its competitors including Xiaomi, with similarly priced offerings, it should able to continue its lead, and also increase it. All markets except China are up for grabs. Samsung needs to keep working on its mid range, especially the mid and premium mid range. Its already doing excellent with the A-Series. It just needs better distribution and even better product strategy.

actually, BKK is the largest phone manufacturer. Vivo Oppo Oneplus are all BKK. The 'merican govt hasn't figured that out yet otherwise they would have banned it like they did to huawei. Xiaomi will be blacklisted by them soon as well. If you can't beat them, ban them.

I wish I could be surprised that millions of people across the globe are not reading Xiaomi's user agreement where they say the Chinese company can collect all personal data input and transmitted for you and your contacts including driver's license, passport numbers and banking detail. Seriously, their agreements spell that out!
