Why so big!
They have the small version of the regular line, they should try to do something remarkable. A mid ranged phone the size of the face plate of the original iPhone, but with superior single camera processing unit, delivering top spec video and still compression rates. 300mb/s intra stills codec using the new stills modes to get 12 bit+ 4:2:2, and 75mb/s h266 12 bit+, which would look good on the latest 16 stop+ mode sensors.
For a work video phone, you don't want the big phones, but you want the full face screen. The look of the original iPhone face plate, is likely meant to be the optimal size, knowing Steve. Another format would be a smaller version of the original se with full face display. Down to the original iPhone face plate's length, but skinnier format. I have such a phone here, but lacks the full screen display, looks like a mini Motorola edge in the ads. That's about as far as you can take it without it being too small. In video, all we need is a 4 inch+ screen, and after 6 inch, it starts getting a bit big for handheld.
Now, an SE like that would be worth having.

It's basically the iPhone SE 2 with 5G. That's it. Will look exactly like the iPhone 8.
Typing from my SE 1 and AT&T surprisingly approved my unlock request just this morning. I bought it brand new but it was a prepaid. I thought I needed services with them for 6 months? Guess not. Just inserted my T-Mobile sim and every works. No code needed.
The SE 1 is the best compact phone of all-time. Better than the Xperia XZ1 Compact because it's still being supported. The XZ1C only got to Pie and no gestures. Some are stuck on Oreo. The SE 1 started from iOS9 and is getting iOS15.

The shell will be some recycled old mode then. I like the screen aspect ratio of the old models better. Then again got bored after 4+ years with my iPhone 7.

There is bunch of reasons why people want an iPhone but don't care what iPhone it is, even if it's the cheapest one.

Though it's weird releasing one after just 2 years. Gap between first two was 5 years...

The difference between this hypothetical IPhone and the 13 would be a new design and better camera (and stuff nobody cares about like 0.3 inch and MagSafe), which won’t be enough to justify double the price.
