What we truly want for SE models:

- iPhoneX or later form factor (using iphone 8 form factor it’s garbage in 2022)
- High capacity batteries (software helps here, but an improve in capacity it’s always good)
- from 5.0” to 6.1” display IPS-LCD (The saddest note is here. With lower price we still have to handle a non OLED screen. 60Hz it’s enough for most users. 120Hz pannels are used just while scrolling it’ doesn’t help the user experience. For years we had 60Hz pannels. But when the 120Hz technology will be the new “60Hz” it will be fine)
- 5G (even the 4G it’s good enough for most user)
- Two cuts: 128Gb and 256 Gb (64Gb in 2022 aren’t enough

Anonymous, 22 Jul 2021A15 won't save Apple. Qualcomm will release faster chipsets. But A15 is still more powerful than all but 895, and it is sold for the same price as the SE 2020, it will have a lot of power for a low price, the mid-range of Android will have to use a more powerful chip or lower prices more and only we will win the users

Kingslayer, 21 Jul 2021GSM Arena comments are pretty funny with all the Apple hate... moreDo you think so? I think the biggest portion of haters come from Chinese phone users. I might be wrong though.

OhNom, 21 Jul 2021If this thing brings A15, and improves its battery life for... moreA15 won't save Apple. Qualcomm will release faster chipsets.

If this thing brings A15, and improves its battery life for the same price (Although maybe I ask Apple too much), but I hope so, it would be an overwhelming competition at the quality price of Android, all brands that depend on the mid-range must pull out their fangs to survive, I hope

blue.sun, 21 Jul 2021Really? Can you buy an android phone with top specification... moreI don't think it's lying Poco F3, Realme Gt, more or less Moto G100, even Oneplus 9R

AnonD-936656, 21 Jul 2021This is no news if you are a true iPhone user over the year... moreNo it doesn't "suddenly" cut performance in half. They get progressively "slower" as apps have more crap and features built in and they release bigger OS updates that have more features and demand more from the hardware. It's no that phones are getting slower, they just get more taxed by new software and thus perform worse. Hardware should post same performance scores as it did new (with some minor +/- difference). This applies to both, Android phones and iOS phones actually. People need to stop repeating this nonsense of planned obsolescence and built-in "features" that slow phones down on purpose to screw the users.

There are superior OSes than iOS and Android. QNX that evolutionized into BB10. Palm's webOS from 2009 that gave us gestures and wireless charging. Nokia's Meego that turned into Sailfish. The problem is if you go that route, you won't get the apps you really need. I tried Windows Phone twice with a Samsung Focus and Microsoft Lumia 640. Their app store sucked.

Most will always end up going back to Android or iOS to get the apps they need. No other way around it. You might enjoy Ubuntu Touch or Sailfish on a Sony Xperia XA2 really briefly. Then after the honeymoon phase is over after a few days, you will go back to using Android or iOS. Two very boring UIs. Same static rows of icons. But the one you need to use to be productive..

It's either Android or iOS for the foreseeable future. This will not change by any upstart. We are stuck with Google data mining us or Apple price gouging us. I could easily go Freedom Phone or Pine Phone. Or go Sailfish. Be with the cool nerds. But boredom will kick in and I'll be back using Android and iOS simultaneously if I choose to.

I really don't understand the Android vs. iOS fanboy debate. They're practically the same to me. This is so early 2010s. I'm not into customizing every single thing like before. I'm not some teenager trying to make my homescreen look like a MySpace page. And iOS' restrictions still annoys the hell outta me. Just use both and stop annoying others what they prefer using.

I love my iPhone 12 mini. It's still below my Pixel 3 and even Essential Phone among my favorites. Go mock me for loving something because it sold poorly. IDGAF what you think. I enjoy what I enjoy and you should do the same

If you are in your 40s like me, I bet 7G will be still around by our final breath. Say it's introduced by 2040. Then it sticks around 20 years. I'll be 80 by 2060.

Getting to the next generation as soon as possible means you can use that phone for a good 10 years. But most will upgrade like 6-8 years sooner than that because many people get bored with their little toys called a smartphone.

The basis of now to use a smartphone hasn't changed much in 14 years. It launches apps. That's the gist of it. The improvements are very small these days. The new features are recycled or mostly gimmicks we won't use.

cyber, 21 Jul 2021iphone 8 with 5g-who caresPeople who don't want an Android, but don't need top spec iPhone and prefer 5G?

GSM Arena comments are pretty funny with all the Apple haters. So many Sony fanboys here but the most popular phones in Japan is the iPhone. Because Japanese loves simplicity, minimalism, and the attention to detail and Apple is very Asian culture/Sony-inspired.

Even how Apple packaged iPods, it was like orgami. Steve Jobs wanted Apple to be like Sony back in the day. When the Walkman came out, Steve Jobs would open it up to see how they placed each component. Japanese also won't support a South Korean brand like Samsung.

We wouldn't have PCs or app stores without Apple. Gestures were found in the MacBook trackpad in the 2000s.

rizki1, 21 Jul 2021next gen se is should be big battery.iphone 8 with 5g-who cares

The current phones we have now will also last longer than the ones that came out 10 years ago. Back in 2011, we had dual-core 1 GHz speed with only 512 MB RAM on a 4S. Current phones will age much better than phones from 10 years ago because some of the current specs are overkill for the average user.

The SE1 only has 2 GB RAM but still works beautifully with it's only weakness is it's slower than my 12 mini and the camera is now considered bleh. And battery life is weak if location is on. But certainly aged better than a 5 and 5S did. Can be solid as a daily for another 5 years.

Anonymous, 21 Jul 2021At least, you need to disable Google Play Services. Also, I... moreWhy do you want to disable Google play services? Leave it enabled. And second you can use almost all apps including heavy games.

Both 4G and 5G will be around for a very long time since they can co-exist. Much longer than how 3G lasted. And 3G was introduced 20 years ago. 2G was introduced 30 years ago. So 5G could be around for the rest our lifetimes. A new generation network is introduced every 10 years or so.

                                      1991: 2G
                                      2001: 3G
                                      2009: 4G/LTE
                                      2019: 5G

Usually the year with a 0 or 1 at the end is when we start to see more phones with the latest generation of network speed. We'll be talking 6G phones in 10 years. But 4G was such a quantum leap from 3G, it will last longer than it. It's like going from dial-up to broadband.

The iPhone 12 mini is still the best iPhone ever made. Don't care what the sales says. Was the Dreamcast a horrible console because it didn't sell as well? Many HTC and Sony smartphones don't sell even 5M. My black 12 mini looks like my launch day 4 I got in 2010.

I bought a 4S just 2 days ago for $20. The 4 series and non-proc12 series looks very similar. The 4S is unbearable to use. Can't even download apps unless I jailbreak. But man, it's still beautiful. My 12 mini's sides also reminds me of the slate 5. I tested my SE1 and 12 mini and the 12 mini is at least 1 to 2 seconds faster opening apps.

I love the SE1 and I actually put the sim inside because it's easier to connect as a hotspot. But it's obvious the 12 mini is superior being nearly 5 years younger. Both are on 14.7 but SE1's battery can drain 2 to 3 times faster if location services is on.

Sad to see the mini go after the 13. Apple made the most perfect-sized modern iPhone for one-handed use. As heavy as an iPhone 4. Battery life on my 12 mini is actually very good for me.
