While Android flagships cost the same, people of low income shouldn't paying for these massively overpriced products. Apple is now a 2T company, a quick search now at 2.45T.
This massive imbalance is just bad......

Why do you guys always have this “number one or your done" mentality? You don’t have to be #1 to have significance in this space. Also, throw out the brainwash talk. Apple folks are getting everything out of their phones android users are getting and they are happy. As far as being trapped by the strong connection between the software and hardware? That’s just something apple folks say to get nagging droid people off their backs. Apple folks are willing customers with their eyes wide open.
There is only one phone to date that has matched the luxury appeal of the iphone. The Fold. Not Samsung as a brand. Just the Fold and it took an extreme unconventional unproven form factor to do so. There is nothing any manufacturer can do within 4 corners of a rectangle that will bring their flagship to the status of the iphone. That doesn't mean they are not successful.

In times of uncertainty people are having extremely poor financial judgment. Investing your savings in a product that is loosing a third of its value at the moment it leaves the shop is exactly that, and there is absolutely no way that product becomes more expensive over time. It's not Apple to blame, it's people who operate in "safe mode".

Why buy iPhones? Maybe my experience can answer this question. I was on holidays and stupid me I went into the sea with my 14 months old iPhones 5s in my pocket. Of course when I realized it, my phone was fully dead after all that salty water. But I knew that Apple can replace damage phone for a fee even if one doesn’t have Apple care. So I went to the nearby provincial capital that they had an Apple store and after a short examination they were happy to replace my phone with the exact same for just 250 dollars. The incident happened at 11 am by 4 pm I was right back to the beach it happened with my bright new iPhone. And thanks to the iCloud I did not lose anything. After signing to my Apple account all my documents, photos, contacts, map pins etc, were right there as before.

My first iPhone was the 4S, it could have been the original iPhone had I wanted it to be, but the product didn't interest me then, logo be dammed!
I continued to switch back and forth before finally settling on staying within the IOS ecosystem about two years ago. This wasn't because I no longer liked or appreciated Android, I just simply personally preferred the IOS way of things.
This also wasn't down to brainwashing or brand lust or any of that simplistic cr*p that gets spat out on this site. It was just personal choice based on experience and preference.

You know, not everyone just look at hardware specs of phone when buying one. It's literally reason why I went with iPhone. I was fed up with all Android phone makers placing hardware features in the spotlight and then treating phone software side as last garbage in the world because they preferred selling you a new one than supporting one from just 2 years ago. 3 years ago the situation was ultra terrible when I switched to iPhone. It's only now that things are tiny bit better and even that with just 2-3 vendors. The rest is same garbage joke of support it was before. But everyone here just foolishly and ignorantly assumes everoyne just buys Apple because they are stupid and they just buy the logo. Read this comment again and you'll see in the beginning it has more than just a logo.

Majority of people think Android as an OS (Android AOSP without Gapps if you will) even has any ecosystem because you can sideload apps and flash a custom ROM. That's just an OS feature, not an ecosystem feature. Ecosystem is Google's stuff bolted on top of Android OS. All the apps, the Google Assistant, the Gapps framework, all the proprietary Google API's, the GooglePlay store. That's what actually makes up an ecosystem. And that one is no different than iOS's ecosystem. You're locked into both if you use a lot of its services and you depend on them heavily. If you don't, like me, by using 3rd party app/service providers that are found on both operating systems, you're not tied to either. You can literally jump between both OS without any hassle.
And I don't think people whining over walled garden closed ecosystem iOS are actually that stupid, they just so ignorantly repeat same talking points they heard from others they believe their own lies how iOS is this horrid place where you can't us or do anything. Which is a total and blatant lie.

The point is it’s not about the product and never been, products aren’t anything special everyone can make a phone, just like you see there’s whole lot of companies who do phones and more coming all the time, but how many does their own OS? exactly! It’s the iOS experience which makes them stand out from all the rest.
Same reason Android companies strugling to stay relevant because they all use same OS and can’t stand out from other Android companies, because the experience is more or less the same.
For Android companies i hope Apple won’t make lower price model because after that Android companies would have hardly anything left and we would see lot more cases like what happened with LG. Because let’s face it, very few buy Android phone because Android, they buy it because it’s only option for them.
