Sorry, but that&... moreIts always a 35mm equivalent when it comes to smartphone.
Anyway, great explanation.

Its useless if a country can only achieve the mainstream in the next 3 to 5 years.

PorkHotdog, 29 Jul 2021no 5g lmfao. doaLol, why bother with such a thing when there is no place in the world to enjoy 5G connectivity right now? I may as well just stick with 4G until 5G become mainstream in the next three to five years time.

"It has only 90mm focal length"
Sorry, but that's wrong. 90mm is the field of view, not the focal length. It is the field of view that a 90mm focal length produces on a full frame camera. Focal length and field of view are different things. The focal length of the camera will be very different.
Also note that "3.5x" , "5x" , etc have absolutely no meaning regarding the angular resolution. There are basically six things that are important regarding the angular resolution:
-number of pixels per angle
-effective diameter of the lens
-color filter array of the sensor
-focal length
-image processing
-quality of the lens
When smartphone manufacturers are talking about "3x", "5x", etc, it tells you nearly nothing about those parameters. You have to look at the exif data. If a wide angle camera is better than a tele camera regarding these 6 factors, then digital zoom from the wide angle camera will outperform the tele camera. A tele camera with a small field of view only delivers a better angular resolution than a wide angle camera, if these 6 factors are better overall. The "3.5x" camera could outperform the P40 Pro Plus "10x" camera, if the effective diameter is similar and if they use a Bayer sensor.

Mikeromeoz, 29 Jul 2021I knew there's no way the P50 series could possibly ha... moreIt's actually smaller than Mi11U 's sensor (1/1.28 vs 1/1.12), but it is brighter (f1.8 vs f2.0).
The biggest letdown and the only hope I've had about p50pro was the 1' sensor. What's the point of huge 3.5x 64 mp periscope camera, I'd trade that instantly for a main Cam 1" sensor. You know, the sensor which is used 80% od the time

So both variants have the same 50MP main and 13MP ultrawide camera alongside Laser AF but different periscope telephoto sensors. Looking at the XD Fusion Pro explanation, it could be the reason why the Pro has that 40MP B/W sensor. What actually intrigues me the most is the choice between Snapdragon 888 and Kirin 9000 chipset for the Pro. Which country's going to get which one? I mean, if Huawei sells both chipsets globally, very few people would choose Kirin.

This is the only P50 review I found - https://youtu.be/cOKzUhmeHLE
In Chinese though 🙄. But those x20 zoom is impressive. The text looks very clear.

P50 Pro doesn't seem that much different compared to P50, also why is a B/W sensor suddenly making an appearance? Now that there's Snapdragon, it would be interesting to see how GCam works with flagship Sony sensor.

I knew there's no way the P50 series could possibly have an 1inch sensor with that design. Turns out the primary is only a bit larger than the GN1 (which is already large enough of a sensor anyway), but that 64MP telephoto still makes this phone the stuff of legends if it really is the OV64A. And with huawei's expertise and past accolades, the results will defo turn out good.

Huawei usually talk a lot about cameras on their conference but this wasn'tn't the case with p50 series as they didn't even reveal sensors so i think improvement will be marginal this time , i suspect that ultrawide isn't as big as previous generation and new telephoto on pro model work just like s21 or s21+ by cropping but i wonder which senser used this time , sanctions did their work as rumors from weibo pointed out that huawei cut off a lot of parts from initial model
And honestly i don't expect availability to be better than mate 40 series

Nick Tegrataker, 29 Jul 2021Everything about its cameras all looks good on papers, but ... moreIt's not a new Sony sensor anyway or they would have mentioned it. Wondering if it's even a Sony sensor at this point as there were rumors going around in China that Sony could not supply them without a special licence due to the US ban and US tech being involved in their sensors. May be all Omnivision sensors like OV50a and OV64a. Will be interested to see if the full specs are published on their vmall website
