Seems that is the last moves from Huawei before going out of business. LG and Huawei got KOed this year and at this pace I don't be surprised if next year someone else will say goodbye.
There are only 4 Android brands of mobile now... Xiaomi, Samsung, Sony and BBK (sorry, I can't separate Oppo, Vivo and OnePlus)

Before 2020, Huawei is useful to us, because they brought an phone with incredible cameras, beautiful design, excellent connectivity, and legendary battery life and charging speeds. But after 2020, i think Huawei can start to become like LG, becoming a hero because of the US. Why i said that? Because right now, Xiaomi is basically an cheaper Huawei. They did what Huawei and Samsung did, either cheaper or same price but better. I mean, if you put the P50 series next to Mi 11 series, Mi 11 series is laughing in basically all areas except maybe the cameras. Xiaomi just needs to work kn their software, and that's it. If they can do it, then they will be unstoppable. Since Xiaomi right now is one of the most innovative brands in the smartphone market. Part of the reason why Huawei is losing is :

    1. US Ban
    2. Overpriced phones

they give us many discounted IAP in huawei app gallery and they give high price for the phone.

Anonymous, 29 Jul 2021Overpriced by a lot as usual. Yup. P50 should be priced like Mi 11, and P50 Pro should be just RMB 1000 more. Given the lack of 5G and GMS. But still, i understand Huawei's hard position now

Anonymous, 29 Jul 2021That's wrong as I explained in my previous comment. Se... moreVery true. It is just like how Pixel 3 is very close to even 2x zooms at that time with only 1x zoom and 12 MP and their software. In lowlight, optical zoom on smartphones sucks, as they have small sensors and aperture, not to mention that higher optical zoom makes image blurry. Huawei's path is interesting, they decided to use an larger, higher MP, and brighter aperture periscope one. As s21 showed us, it is possible to have 3x zoom without much quality loss with an high MP sensor, Google showed us 2x zoom without much quality loss with an low MP sensor. And Huawei, has Samsung's high MP sensor, and also doesn't have Samsung's Oil painting image processing, so hopefully their 3.9X optical zoom can be hybrid zoomed up until 11.7 X since that's 3x hybrid zoom over the actual optical range like the S21

But it is weaker in CPU and GPU. Rest of the parts are equally matched. But as u know, Snapdragon 888 is an hungry beast, it overheats easily and drains significantly more battery than 870. So maybe i will take Kirin. As who wants their phone to overheat easily or battery drained quickly for just an 5 - 10% increase in GPU and CPY

[deleted post]Lol, if an competition offers 5G in the same price, then sure it is an advantage, even though you can enjoy it directly. But at the same price, P50 offers amazing cameras. At that price in China P50 Pro and P50 is competing against Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11,not even the Mi 11 Ultra or S21 Ultra. So maybe it lacks 5G and GMS (This is enough for me to not purchase huawei's phones), but it may make up for that in terms of cameras (hopefully) and also maybe Huawei's brand (lol).

Anyway, let's wait for the review. As specs are only half the story, what matters is the actual experience or the results

[deleted post]I am not sure. Pixel 3 bested everyone in lowlight zoom at 2018 when all others have an 2x optical zoom, even though pixel only has 1x optical zoom. Also, in daytime results were pretty close to 2x opticals. Let's not forget that Pixel is an 12 MP sensor, S21 showed us that 64 MP bayer can get us to 3x, so 90mm X 3 = 270mm which means roughly 10x hybrid zoom, so results should be even better than P40 Pro Plus and S21 Ultra's 10x zoom especially in lowlight where 10x zoom has too small sensor and very tiny aperture. Also, 10x optically means more handshake, less optical zoom means less handshake. Bigger sensor, higher megapixel, also much larger aperture should offset the optical zoom.

Well, that's the theory. Don't say something yet before the actual samples come out. You know, sometimes the cover of an book doesn't tell the whole story

[deleted post]That's wrong as I explained in my previous comment. See my previous comment. I think many people don't really understand what smartphone manufacturers mean when they are talking about a "3.5x" or "10x" camera. "3,5x", "10x", etc have no meaning regarding the angular resolution, it only tells you what the field of view is, nothing else. A small field of view doesn't mean that the angular resolution is high.

Their website has just resolution and focal length of cameras.
                                    Also this :

" **1080p@960fps is implemented based on AI frame interpolation algorithm technology."

Rkm, 29 Jul 2021What are the specs of the sensors? You can see the official specs here:

                                      https://consumer.huawei.com/cn/phones/p50/specs/
                                      https://consumer.huawei.com/cn/phones/p50-pro/specs/

There's no mention of sensor sizes (or even pixel size). Usually, it's one of the first thing Huawei mentions (they did use to have some pretty unique sensors).
