Unsurprisingly, Oppo is working on one too.

[deleted post]Selling what? Galaxy A02's and A22's? It's no problem sell 100€ device in huge quantities. Selling 800+ € devices in huge quantities is another. And if Samsung sold about the same number of Galaxy S models as Apple has iPhones, how has market "rejected" the "iOS" (iPhone) then? That was my point entirely lmao.

To answer your question, the advantage is that you save 2.3 seconds to plug in the cable and the "wow, that's so easy and futuristic" feeling. Until air charging is ready I will keep using a wired charger.

Acorns, 31 Jul 2021Sorry to seem like I'm just repeating my previous comm... moreWhole idea behind MagSafe was originally that even if you trip over the cable or yank it, it unplugs without damage to the connector, cable or the device (which isn't the case for Lightning or USB-C connector). Apple had that years ago before anyone else. Then they added Qi wireless support for phones like everyone else and they sort of combined the two by adding magnets to standard Qi so that cable remains attached in ideal location and that it still behaves like MagSafe did years ago. If you trip, yank or pull, it'll disconnect without any damage to phone or the cable. Personally I'm not a huge fan of it since I never use phone when connected and I'm certainly not clumsy. I do use Qi charger here and there.

Personally, I'd prefer a magnetic detachable charger like those used for smartwatches. It's magnetic so that it aligns contacts perfectly, but isn't wireless. Issue with that is they'd have to make up some sort of standard like USB-C or each would have a proprietary one. Which could be a small piece where you plug USB-C into it making it a standard on the other end. This way you'd have trip/yank protection and no wireless losses with ability to use stupid fast charge rates if desired since it's still a physical connection in the end.

captain fokou, 31 Jul 2021It's not stupid idea. Wireless charging is already ine... moreSorry to seem like I'm just repeating my previous comment/question but even if magnetic wireless charging is more efficient than standard wireless charging what at this point in time does it offer in terms of advantage over wired charging other than the 'inconvenience' of plugging in a wire? Don't get me wrong I'm all for convenience and easier ways of doing things and if both ways of charging were equally powerful and efficient then wireless charging would be better but It has been around for quite a few years now (I had a Nokia Lumia 820 with wireless charging back in 2012/13) and it still seems less efficient in 2021. If you could 'truly' wireless charge as in have a box in your house or office but could keep your phone with you (like WiFi for example) then that would truly be the game changer but at the moment it just seems the minor inconvenience of plugging in your phone to a charging cable is both safer and quicker than a wireless pad? Maybe I'm just missing the point? ✌️

wongwatt, 31 Jul 2021Why are they copying this stupid idea? There are literally... moreIt's not stupid idea. Wireless charging is already inefficient. The magnetic charger is pretty much the most efficient way to charge your phone wirelessly.

[deleted post]And you're just dead seriously assuming everyone only ever used an iPhone. You do realize people used Androids and weren't happy with whatever aspect of it and went to iOS? You just assume everyone is brain dead and just sticks with iPhone since the time of dinosaurs. And that's all you Fandroid sheep do. Assume shit and throw bizarre accusations around. God forbid someone likes things you don't. Your minds literally implode when that happens. Heh.

wongwatt, 31 Jul 2021Why are they copying this stupid idea? There are literally... moreI genuinely don't understand what the fuss is about these magnetic chargers? How lazy have people become that plugging in a wire (which works better and is faster and more efficient) than wireless charging is suddenly a major issue? Like you say a wireless charger still needs plugging in so you still need a wall socket to use one anyway. I guess reverse wireless charging has some genuine use case benefits if you need something like ear buds charging but again at this point in time how efficient is that and does t drainyour phone battery much quicker? Wouldn't a powerbank before useful? Anyways this isn't meant to be argumentative I just genuinely intrigued as to what the real world benefits are at this time for magnetic charging over wired? Feel free to enlighten me guys? Peace ✌️

IOS is nothing but a locked handicapped mess.

Android simply works. On iOS one has to go through 10 different step to get basic things done. Unintuitive OS like iOS has been rejected by the market.
People have wholeheartedly put theirs trust in the Android ecosystem.

There are literally no reasons to this because all it does is replace more efficient wired charging with an attached magnetic "wireless" pad that has a wire running to it - removing the single benefit of actual wireless charging.

[deleted post]Because everyone totally wants 300 billion settings for everything. Some just want a device that's easy to use and work with and does that reliably without any fiddling and has very long term software support. That's iPhone. If you want to have control over every tiny bit and fiddle with everything and install different ROM every week, then go with Android. This fighting what's better, who copied who and what someone should use or shouldn't use is getting ridiculous.
