As the average Joe uses selfie cam and main cam everyday. And Skype is old and ded but still it was a legend back then.
Funilly the 2b I said is actually just the other apps aside from WhatsApp. If u count WhatsApp its more than half the population of world who uses video call and call. Oh and there also was another old app called imo.

Admit it u know the government knows everything bout u. And even if they use pop up ona phone they may not be a ble to take photos of u but they can still look at the photos uve taken.
And yes many people don't care including u. But that deos not mean that over 2b people don't. And yes ur right that there are other options with front camera.

It COULD be fixed, it wouldn't be easy, but it is possible, why it isn't is because of excuses like you just said, or those who flat out don't even believe you are spied upon in any ways.
I have Skype installed, I haven't made a video call since the last 4 years at least, and quite a lot of people I know still use those as a form of modern MSN Messenger to write or do vocal chat rather than for video call.
And even there, A FEW PHONES will NOT KILL YOU nor people doing video calls.
And again, there are better than phones for this, like tablets, laptops and desktop computers, heck even TVs can allow you that, it isn't as if making some phones without this compromise generating front camera would be dramatics.
Funnily, I see more people who say they'd be happy without a front camera as they don't do selfies and video calls than people I know who do video calls.
The only times I see people talking about video call is actually those who get butt hurt because who talk about phones without front facing camera.

Or the fact that ONE phones without front camera won't kill you, MAINLY if THE SAME PHONE simply has the front camera removed/not installed (no additional R&D cost or anything else required)?
And I would like the source of this 1.8 billions.
The thing is, you can't just spit on someone else non-trending tastes and then say, "i also hope they ditch the (insert X or Y trending feature/design element here). I really don't like it at all".
Because this is literally because of those anti-non-trending feature comments in the first place that diversity is dead and that you can't find a proper flagship with a flat display.
Even wanting no punch hole, would have granted you, last year, the same answers as I get now for talking about pop up or no front camera.
See the issue now?

The only reason why the inferior optical ones are everywhere is only because there are trending.

Also do u think taking photos with that's all screen would be easy? No right. Instead if u care so much bout selfie quality get aa zenfone 7 or zenfone 8. Either way u can put ur finger on shutter button put rear side facing on u and then bam u can get some great photos instead of having to take a photo on such a teeny tiny display. Btw 90% of people don't care about selfie quality and u can't do video call with tiny display and no selfie cam on front means no video call. Also if u don't care about video call more than 1.5b people do

I Have Mi Mix 3 And Xiaomi Completely Forget this model!
After 1 Year, no update To Android 11 And Still Stuck To Android 10 and miui 12!
Im So Sad! This Phone (MIX 3) Has Major Problem:
1. Wifi Not working after 20 mintes
2. very low touch sensivity
3.poor battery life
And As i Said more than 1 year with no update!

nondescript, 02 Aug 2021Agreed. Even after a year of using Mix 2s, i still can'... moreI'd say they fixed that rather well on the Mi Mix 3, but it could be even better with it under display to add water protection, and also by ridding the slider they could increase battery capacity.
For me the under display camera don't need to be any type of performance beast, as long as it's good enough for video calls. For those who loves taking selfies, the rear display like Mi 11 Ultra and a wonderful rear camera system should do the trick.

I do video calls several hours per day, by phone. It is significantly more practical than dragging around a tablet or PC at all time.
Btw, 1.8 billion people uses mobile video calling. Removing the front facing camera and thereby excluding such a large potential customer base would be unwise.
I currently have the Mi Mix 3 and the main reason why I chose it is because of the no hole punch, no notch and bezel less design. I'm hoping the Mi Mix 4 will grow bigger, at least 6.8" and have zero disruptions in the display. Speaking of hopes, i also hope they ditch the curved screen. I really don't like it at all.

Oh my god most of the comments are so "Karen". Mi Mix series has always been experimental products and incorporate the "art x technology". Since the first Mix, up to the Fold and Alpha (which they did not sell). It's more of trying how far they can accomplish on design hardware. You need to consider that, and wait for the other Xiaomi phone series that compliments what you are looking for. Some people also said that Mix series is more of a company accomplishment more than sales. It's so cringe that you are expecting a typical upgrade for Mix series. Mix series has always been weird and new on their year of launch. If you don't like it, don't buy it.

The side mo... moredoes not make sense to use under display fb if it would not be cheaper, zero advantage, look at asus with normal fp reader, cost 1500 usd, only other reason could be to move people ot fake android "face id" and remove fp reader altogether to save money, but does not make sense why everyone would do it. Economy of scale is a real thing.
I would still like oled, mostly because always on display. But I agree that using LCD with actual fp reader might be cheaper, and even i would guess that it actually would be significantly cheaper. But in the reviews manufacturer would get bashed to hell for using LCD.
I agree that under display FP reader is crap and especially if you do any actual physical work with your hands, then it works exactly 0% of the time.

The side mounted and rear mounted fps are far more simpler to make and cost way less. As they only dedect ur ridges and ud fps don't even detect ridges or something and not further either. The main reason why ud fps is expensive is amoled. And amoled is simply ridiculously more expensive than ips lcd. Either way if amoled wasn't thta expensive there would be actuall capacitive fps cuz they are still more reliable and far more fast. My huawei p20 lite has rear mounted fps and like 1/20 would it fail and it works ultra fast. Meanwhile my dad's s10 ud fps is far slower and mostly doesn't detect fp
