P5 preview
http://www.mobile-review.com/articles/2008/se-paris-en.shtml
apparently, SE just add all the best features in G900 + P1i and put it in this phone with a slide form factor. No ground breaking improvements have been added.
G700 + 50 euro = G900
G900 + 50 euro = P5

I think i read somewhere it has no hsdpa!!!!
if so i think it took one year to sony ericsson to downgrade their p1i in design and battery capacity :-)
I think Sony Ericsson has lost their faith in UIQ and symbian phones as their flagship. SE the P-series is what makes you special is the symbol of the best phone in the world and we love it so pls don't leave us down :-)
What i need is
2.8 or 3 inch display for web, videos...
300+ MHz for performance
Nothing more...

re: the 208m processor.
We really MUST evaluate performance once the P5 is in-hand. Symbian's OS is built specifically for use on mobile devices; thus, it's light/small compared to WinMo which requires a much more powerful processor.
Sure there have been issues with some past phones' performance . . . but ya gotta wait and see before passing judgement.

se is 2 years behind nokia. this phone's features are almost identical to nokia's n95 except that nokia has a better display(even though it's not touchscreen), better processor and better design. plus the icons of the os on the p5 are very ugly......nokia n96 is 10 times better....(and in the ppc segment the touch diamond is way better than se's xperia)

Hmmm
well let me see if i got it right
SE can't handle the P-series as their flagship and since maybe mostly for software issues they have changed their flagship to windows mobile
keep the p-series for the fanatics
and put symbian on a lot of phones to sell as more as it can????
I think im right ;-)

Somebody let the bean counters loose at the Sony Ericsson asylum.
208 mhz is like putting a 2 stroke 125 Suzuki engine in Mercedes Benz and expecting to win at Le Mans.
I thought after the p990 debarcle common sense would prevail at SE, but I am shuddering in my slippers now.

i think this phone is more on the performance side. not stylish though. i have a nokia e61i with 220 mhz. its a stylish phone. with office applications. id compare it to the P1i. if the P5 with only 208 mhz can perform well the who needs a 300 mhz + processor. but kinda disappointed w/ SE. i sure they can do better than that.

The more I hear abt the P5 the more i am dissapointed ... not only must the design chief be sacked now the technical head must too be sacked for producing a substandard product.... once I see the product ... may be I will recommend sacking the procurment / sourcing chief.... SE needs a top management change

SE reveals another smart phone with only 208 Mhz? OMG... I currently have the W960i and it is superslow when oppening apps and messages, I'd have to say the processor is inadequate for smart phones, lower model Nokias like the E51 have 300+ Mhz for the processor... SE... please put faster processors in your phones!!!

So we are forced to choose between x1 with only 65k display, 3.2mp cam and somewhat unconvincing widows mobile vs p5 with crappy design, 208mhz cpu and overpriced memory stick micro
Which one is better? I for one tend to choose x1
