I'm actually quite keen on the vanilla P50 at first since it has the same main and ultrawide camera sensor as the P50 Pro. But looking at previous flagship Huawei phones with a 5x periscope telephoto camera, I can't help but think that the vanilla P50 is basically a redressed Mate 40 Pro with a swapped chipset. Heck, the Mate 40 Pro still has an IR blaster and a bigger battery. So really, the only reason why I would buy the vanilla P50 is because of the Snapdragon chipset, that's it. At this point, I would either wait for the P50 Pro or just buy a Mate 40 or Mate 40 Pro right away.

Phones with 810 needed to have A57 disabled.
No phone with 888 needs the OEMs to put cores to sleep.

The telephoto should be around s21 ultra or mi 11 ultra level zoom, Curious about this 888 4g lte will have no overheating problem like the 5G version as it will have some heard room without 5g modem on the chip. As right now 888 android flagship still have heating issue with light usage kinda like the dreaded 810

Anonymous, 08 Aug 2021Nice phone, but $300, no more Yeah, but only in 2023

Every recent phone I've used with a SnapDragon has had overheating and fatal GPS issues, there's something fundamentally wrong with Qualcomm's SoCs.
The P40 Pro Plus I tried to use (but ultimately failed due to Google issues) was absolutely flawless, as was the P30 Pro I had before.
I'm going back to a P30 Pro, Kirin is what made Huawei special, cool running and huge battery life were Huawei's SoC USP.
Buying a Huawei with no Google and no Kirin is an insane idea.
