Anonymous, 05 Nov 2012You cant see the blue tint? Check your eyes, it has been th... moreIlluminations above 5000k are referenced to natural daylight, 6500K is the natural white light. Honestly none of the mobile phone displays have the perfect white point tracking at 6500K.

    a) Gamma values play an important role in color calibration , tweak the gamma to correct values and most tints are gone.

    b) The tint observed (mostly bluish) is also due to the automatic brightness settings. use a sample image, Test the device with automatic brightness and Set the brightness to 50% and recheck. i am sure the 'tint' diminishes and in some SAMOLED phones its virtually nil.
Samsung uses a dynamic contrast algorithm to save battery, which often results in tinted view (mostly white is bluish), that said you will notice only if you have another device to compare, else it will perfectly fine.
Main advantages of AMOLED is the color saturation which is more appealing to eye(subject to personal preference), no shift in color at any viewing angles, high refresh rate, low power consumption

At 50% brightness, AMOLED displays 'white' similar to LCD but consumes less battery.
I prefer SAMOLED to LCd anyday.

Nice! Updated mine finally to Jelly Bean last week and it definitely makes it run even faster, making even better use of the CPU.

Anonymous, 05 Nov 2012You cant see the blue tint? Check your eyes, it has been th... moreColor tint or not tint was still depend on individual. Samsung great Super AMOLED screen blue tint still way better than a HTC phones with serious yellow tint. Sometime obvious color tint maybe due to color calibration. No, there's no absolute so-called perfect white, on display or not on display in this world. It's still depend on surrounding lights and the particular timing you look at a "White" object. Even "the scientists" has been arguing about who's right for decades now. Remind you, absolutely no one put their nose up close to the phone screen, except for someone intended to find a fault to whatever motive or reason they wanted. You can't even focus and read what's on the screen like that.

As a Omnia1, Omnia2, Galaxy S, Galaxy Tab, Galaxy S2, Galaxy Note 1, S3, and now Galaxy 2 LTE user, I would say,
Forget about the color tint. They're negligible to most people. Just buy a Samsung phone according to your heart. :)

Fuji, 03 Nov 2012hahaha All Androiders talk about Apple, iphone and ios all ... morebecause android owners are not blinded like "iusers" who think they got best, whatever apple puts in their hands. Never bother to check what is latest tech on market.. do you? Atleast Andriod owners do make sure they have latest offerings in comparision to fruit company. You can call it sadistic pleasure... to see some people pay more for beauty rather than functionality. ( and more pleasure to see them bonded for two years coz they cant afford to pay upfront for what they hero worship ) atleast majority of andriod people pay upfront for their phone.

Imagewerx, 05 Nov 2012What's that got to do with the Galaxy S3 selling 30 million... moreYou cant see the blue tint? Check your eyes, it has been there on all Galaxy S series. Oddly enough its absent in Galaxy Note and Note II. I checked 2 demo units in the store before i bought my Note II to make sure it had no blue tint. Galaxy S3 i never considered because of the blue tint, its a good phone but the blue tint of Galaxy S2 (less than S3) was driving me crazy.

By the way, Note II has a vague yellow tint, but its not noticeable except in webbrowsing when you put your nose up close. The science behind the yellow blue tint is 2 sides of the same thing, WHITE TEMPERATURE. A perfect white on a display should be 6500 Kelvin, Galaxy S 1-2-3 are way above this, the Galaxy S (which has the worst display i have ever seen except some ultracheap china phones, superblue i call it) has more than 10,000 Kelvin, and the other two are also far off. The yellow tint, as seen on for example Note II and most of all on some older HTC with Super-LCD, comes from low white temperature. High white temp = blueish, Low = yellowish.

in addition AMOLED displays will exaggerate blue when viewed at an angle, even at a small angle, and in some cases more greenish (like the Nokia N9 [pentile amoled], i had one of those as well), having a high white temp to begin with is adding to the problem.

There are many reasons to get a Note II instead of S3, clearer small fonts and no blue tint being two of the main points, and the higher performance and better battery surely helps too. S3 has nothing to put up against Note II except price. (Size? Note II is not too big, thats an argument only by those who havent used one)
