It would be really cool if this chip was designed by samsung and fabbed in TSMC's foundries as samsung is notorious for throttling, heating and other problems.

Perhaps Samsung selling some rejected chip design to Google for throwaway prices, and they are just hyping it up by renaming it 'Tensor' like it's some new revolution in smartphone tech

Google are just lying. This is a first gen product where they had hardly any input, perhaps it's in the next gens that a difference will be made, but this isn't it. Software support might be longer as google own the software stack for the hardware, but that's about it.

In both performance and battery life. Exynos 990 did have several shortcomings, but Exynos 2100 doesn't really.

I expected tensor to give ground breaking performance like M1 did. Learning that its just going to be a renamed Exynos is very disappointing.

So the beta phone will be powered by the slow heater from Samsung. Yet another reason to stay away from the beta phone.!

I'm sure that google will go back to SD.
I don't understand the decision making process in google. they are uncertain of their future plans.
For sure they are going to drop this chipset at the cost of pixel phones

If it's Exynos, I guess it'll have poor battery life. I think that's tended to be the case in Samsung's flagships that are released with Exynos and Snapdragon chips in different markets.
