Anonymous, 16 Aug 2021What is 3x telemacro cameraYe olde xiaomi 5MP macro, which even if admittedly better than what others offer with 2MP ones (even samsung 5MP ones) thanks to AF, it's still mostly spec padding that someone will likely use once or twice and that's it.

Anonymous, 16 Aug 2021Check dxomark for samples Mi 11i (tested with miui 12.5) :... moreYeah, agree the hmx performs better in practice in general. It is also the more expensive sensor by quite a bit (the replacement main sensor cost on Xiaomi's China website is much higher for the mi10, mi10s and mi11 (hmx phones) than it is for the Redmi k40pro+ and Redmi note 9pro (hm2) phones). There is a reason why Xiaomi chooses the hmx for their more expensive phones and hm2 for the redmi line up in China. Shutter speed is also very slow with the hm2 sensor. It's among the slowest of any sensors if you check the file info on photos on this site and dxo

John, 16 Aug 2021On paper, I agree. But in practice, HMX only does 4-to-1 pi... moreI'd say HMX is the better sensor between the two, reasons:
1. It's a larger sensor (1/1.33" vs 1/1.52")
2. The quad binning may not seem as good as HM2 that nonabins to 2.1μm, but HMX has the advantage of resolution. 27MP gives lots of zoomed-in detail compared to 12MP (and that's before gcam comes into play, but I'd say it's irrelevant for this comparison)
3. Usually, xiaomi phones that come with HMX has OIS, and I've yet to come across a phone with HM2 that has it, so I don't think this one will either (though CMIIW the presence of OIS doesn't really depend on the type of sensor used, so there's still a possibility that it does come with it)
4. Based on my observations, HMX does lowlights better than the HM2 (I've some picture references I took myself from 2 phones, Mi10T and RN10P, using both stock cam and gcam, I can share if anyone asks)
5. 8K vids actually looks good even if it's just an upscale from 6K. I've yet to see 8K videos out of HM2 though.
Still, HM2 has its merits:
1. It's cheaper. Some midranges come with it.
2. The detail might not compare to HMX, but on a side-to-side comparison, I prefer the daytime shots it makes. The highlights just look better IMO (I'm not really a photo connoisseur tho)
So yeah, IMO, if they really go with HM2 on this one, then I'd say it's a downgrade.

AnonD-994853, 16 Aug 2021Explain it, i don't quite get it TUV is a German company that focuses on hardware certification. They will do tests to make sure that the hardware in question is safe to use in long term. If the hardware passes the test, it will gain a TUVRheinland-approved sticker. ViewSonic wrote a good article explaining about it: https://www.viewsonic.com/library/tech/explained/what-is-tuv-certification-and-why-is-it-important/

Anonymous, 16 Aug 2021Last year's mi 10T pro with HMX is by far better than HM2On paper, I agree. But in practice, HMX only does 4-to-1 pixel binning which resulted in twice the native pixel size. HM2 by contrast does 9-to-1 pixel binning, so you have three times the native pixel size. A bigger pixel size should be useful for lowlight conditions.
