Wayne , 20 Aug 2021Doesn't that the.ind me of the Black Magic Design 12k ... moreAll of the features would really be more suitable when 1-inch sensors become a regular thing in phone camera's... the sensors are too small to really give good quality results in all kinds of recordings (regardless of the features). Since it's almost guaranteed that nothing bigger than a 1-inch sensor is going to placed on a phone (realistically speaking), phone manufactures will put more emphasis on camera quality aspects and features as soon as they will reach the maximum in increasing the sensor sizes. I'm personally looking for RAW video recording, and features like high-speed video at high-resolutions (OP9Pro already does 4K@120). And by the way, not a good idea to compare cinema grade video cameras to phones when the video camera costs like 3-5 times as much as the latest high-end smarphones.

How am I a troll? I've asked this many times and I can't even get a proper response. Instead of having a decent conversation, all I see is some anon calling anyone who says anything positive about Sony a troll

Dallas Cowboy , 19 Aug 2021Hello Android Ma$ter... Can you recommend me a good phone a... moreRealme GT Master Explorer Edition is a great buy along with its sibling Realme GT Master Edition. The Explorer edition is the more well rounded version.
Since you are in the US, I can't say anything about band support.
In Asia, the Realme gets an easy recommendation.
I wouldn't recommend the pixel 5a to anyone, if it were launched in Asia.

Doesn't that the.ind me of the Black Magic Design 12k Cinema Camera colour filter pattern?
Ok, so smooth zoom? But what about between 36-85mm. What about 200-600mm.
Why don't they concentrate on high but rate 4:2:2 12-16 bit video instead. There are too sensors which do 12-14 bits. In a Blackmagic design Braw like codec? Those would be a major improvement.

Shui8, 20 Aug 2021Those 'worm" artifacts on X-Trans sensor are just... moreX-Transformer can still produce worse artifacts than Bayer sensors in my opinion and makes the workflow much more cumbersome.
Fujifilm's jpgs do suffer from bad artifacts, I posted a link (Amazon's studio comparison) that proves that.
I tried Capture One and it can't compete with Lightroom regarding the shadows and highlights sliders. Capture One doesn't have a mobile version either.
Dpreview's video is misleading as it leads to the myth that a low resolution never(!) has any noise advantage at all. But that's not true due to read noise.

Anonymous, 20 Aug 2021Dpreview belongs to Amazon. They never even mention the art... moreThose 'worm" artifacts on X-Trans sensor are just visible when using Lightroom sharpening method. Application like X-Transformers & the popular Capture One wont exhibit those artifacts. I settled for Capture One. Plus when printed out you wont see it anyway, like at all.
DPreview has a point with what they meant about the use of pixel size in real life situation & production. At the end, all of your works a printed out, and again, those noise cant be seen but got advantage if the resolution are higher. Those noises can be differentiate only when pixel peep using monitor at high magnification & on really really high ISO. Are those will affects your end product when printed out? Bigger pixel size has advantage on video of though, as DPreview described.
But do notes that those pixel size & megapixel debacle only on already big full frame sensor. In smartphone tiny sensor world, the proportion scales are higher, means higher pixel size are mostly better.

Note that "85-200mm" actually tells you nothing. Why? 85 or 200mm is not the focal length, it tells you what the field of view is. Many smartphones can achieve a 85-200mm field of view with digital zoom.
So one also needs to know things like the focal length, the number of pixels and the effective diameter of the lens.

They never even mention the artifacts that can be seen in their studio comparison with Fujifilm cameras. Artifacts that are annoying for many Fujifilm users. Dpreview often publishes misleading articles, just recently they published a video that the number of pixels of a camera sensor wouldn't matter at all regarding noise even though they know that read noise can affect the image quality extremely.

Anonymous, 20 Aug 2021Inferior quality?? Where?? Nobody has time to spend hours t... more- No need to edit anything, unless you want your images to look like smartphones filtered, oversaturated, oversharpened HDR puke off instagram.
- If you are ok taking images of of you kids with deformed faces because you are shooting with 24mm equivalent then go ahead
- If you are ok to use amateur hour Portrait mode that applies Gaussian blur in the background while masking your babies' deformed face and body to make faux bokeh. This technique has been very popular back in 2001 by anyone using Photoshop. And so was the HDR tone mapping.
- In the end just because you can't see the difference in quality doesn't mean it's not there. Like I said it all comes down to how much you want to cherish your memories.
Everything I said above applies to mobile phone video but amplified by 10. Mobile phones will not solve a proper video output within this decade.
