Sony Xperia 10 III Lite quietly unveiled in Japan: half the storage lost, eSIM gained

20 August 2021
This Lite model is almost exactly the same as the original, except it comes with 64 GB storage, lacks a dual-SIM version and FM radio.

haha bobo, 21 Aug 2021$425 for an entry level device? Are you sure about that? ... moreCame here to say this. Sony's phone division is going to get LG'd pretty soon I believe.

There needs to be a Xperia compact again. Or a droid phone to replace it

Anonymous, 21 Aug 2021I would totally buy it, but they're probably afraid of... moreOnly midranges with more than 1 update were M2, X and X Compact.

YUKI93, 21 Aug 2021I definitely miss the Xperia 10 Plus. There was supposed to... moreI would totally buy it, but they're probably afraid of just that: cannibalizing their high-end line. Except I wouldn't have bought the 1iii anyway, so now there's less money in Sony's pocket overall. Are their midrangers still on the two year update schedule? If that's the case then I won't be getting any Sony phone.

John, 20 Aug 2021Lol, what a complete joke. MIUI is THE MOST poorly-optimize... moreYour opinion doesn't coincide with the experience of experts in the smartphone world as well as individuals who have proudly bought Xiaomi phones in record numbers.

YUKI93, 21 Aug 2021I definitely miss the Xperia 10 Plus. There was supposed to... moreI think it also has much lower sales than smaller 10.
Another reason it does not have mark 2 and 3.

Slim phones? None of the three are less than 8mm.

haha bobo, 21 Aug 2021$425 for an entry level device? Are you sure about that? ... moreIt's only going to be sold in Japan. Sony made a chunk of their money considering The carriers there essentially asked for it. Unless you live in Japan, you don't have to go crazy over this device...

Anonymous, 21 Aug 2021How about a light version of the 1iii? $1200 is just too m... moreI definitely miss the Xperia 10 Plus. There was supposed to be a second-gen Mk2 version of it with Snapdragon 720G chipset, but Sony canned it because they want to focus on 5G connectivity. Xperia 10 Plus can easily be a Lite version of Xperia 1 since they both shares the same 6.5" 21:9 screen. If Sony can launch Xperia 10 Plus Mk3 with at least Snapdragon 750G chipset, that would be great.

haha bobo, 21 Aug 2021$425 for an entry level device? Are you sure about that? ... moreSnapdragon 600 series is not an entry-level chipset, that goes to Snapdragon 400 series. The low-end base Snapdragon 200 series chipset is built specifically for budget Android Go smartphones.

$425 for an entry level device? Are you sure about that?

There's no way that it'll be a good seller. Not even a single bit.

kanaaka, 21 Aug 2021nah, sony lcd (i had z3, z5, xz2p) always need to be manual... moreHe is right, the XZ2 screen is very good, I had bought the Xperia 10 Plus and frankly I was amazed by the quality of its LCD screen, it had no complaints about its competitors who use Oled

How about a light version of the 1iii? $1200 is just too much for a phone that's looking at 3 years of updates at best.

I like how GSMA focuses on whats lost.

But when other brands announced a new phone... Well GSMA just made an simple article....

Over 10 years ago Sony made the best phone ever .Xperia z ultra .a 6’4 inch phone very slim which looked beautiful while others were making 5 inch panels. Now fast forward 10 years all they make is small, panels small batteries and thin phones no one particularly enjoys using according to sales.I personally don’t understand is the mobile unit of Sony trying to sabotage itself.?

Still no Compact?!

Anonymous, 20 Aug 2021Did you have XZ2? No. That's why you are talking such ... morenah, sony lcd (i had z3, z5, xz2p) always need to be manually calibrated (fortunetaly sony always include custom white balance option), not a big deal, but out of the box the color is tends to be bluish to achieve higher peak brightness. i don't know about OLED Xperia (xz3 and newer) maybe it's improved, but if we're talking about IPS-era sony, i can say sony display is worse than any flagship at that time.
