Anonymous, 21 Aug 2021He's saying they cancelled the Note line to make room ... moreEven without foldable, they would probably have cancelled the note, because, as they said, the S and Note had become too similar, though I don't agree.

But don't forget that the Smartphone market is the king of lack of diversity, they LOVE to make all phones being the same and totally hate making any kind of variety whatsoever, and Samsung is excellent at this game.

The truth is, there is more than enough room for multiple high-end devices, including the mainstream S, special Note, and more niche Foldable, in fact, they have two foldable models...
Considering the Note had a premium camera setup while the Fold and Flip have average/middle range one, the Note had the S-pen, and many Note users would not buy a foldable even if it was near perfect and less expensive, they could easily sell both.

But this is pure capitalism arrogance where they only care about profits and not a single bit about customers AT ALL, this applies to the whole Smartphone market who doesn't even consider demand but simply only make the same phone again and again, so people have no choices, and they don't have to care about doing any efforts to make something people want, which is also the fault of the toxic smartphone community that spit on everything non-mainstream, making it impossible to efficiently survey customer demand anyway.

Anonymous, 21 Aug 2021He's saying they cancelled the Note line to make room ... moreNo, that's not the case. According to Samsung, there is no new Note this year because of the chip shortage issue.

AnonD-909757, 20 Aug 2021I find it funny how people complain about the pop up being ... moreAgreed.

I find pop-out front camera the best for both worlds (privacy) and (full screen) but implementing it might expose company's/govs espionage so they got rid of it quickly.

Notice how google even prevented apps from disabling front camera on android 11+ !! That kind of action tells you everything.

If companies really care about their users privacy they should add a button sliding on the top or side to block camera in hardware level (just like some laptops that have this feature for blocking front cam).

Android--Master, 21 Aug 2021But the less durable part of the foldable is always closed/... moreMan yes thats right but because inner screen durability is zero or close to zero. Whe phone falls on any of its corners inner screen gets damaged as well.

The only part that is exposed, when inside your pocket or kept outside on a table, is the exterior which enjoys gorilla glass Victus protection.

Acorns, 21 Aug 2021Why can't Samsung accept that foldables are a niche ma... moreNo one is forcing anyone to buy any phone of they're not making profit they would have stopped producing one.

Why can't Samsung accept that foldables are a niche market and market them accordingly instead of trying to force them on people who don't need a folding tablet in their pocket? They are bigger, thicker, fatter and more prone to breaking and more expensive. Some people will buy them but most folks I believe are happy with a 6.5 to 7 inch normal phone for 99% of the things they do on a daily basis. I'm not against foldables but just accept not everybody wants one. It seems like more people miss the note than than want a fold at this point.

For foldable devices, the weakest link is the flexi pcb cable inside located at the hinge area. Every foldable damage is 99% due to the cable breakage at the turning point or the solder joints.

samsung stopped the Note series and forcing that fragile Foldable.

That fold still vulnerable to dust.

As long as no company guarantee you 2 years of waranty even from water damage all IP XX is just a nonsense gimmick making the phone much more expensive.
No matter if the phone is foldable or bar phone.
No matter it cost 150-200 bucks or over 1000.
Unless they give you water damage warranty lasting 2 years like any other waranty is just a gimmick. An expensive add-on where any water protection cover does the same for maybe 5 bucks if bought from alliexpress or wish site. Etc.

Lol durability. Played with the Flip at the store. Pressed on the screen with my nail just like I accidentally might during normal use and it left a permanent dent.

                          No thanks. Maybe next year.

Wouldn't the lubricant/anti-corrosion liquid in the hinge ultimately leak out one day? In thinking hot temperatures, low pressure environments? What about dilution over time?

Worried that are no too many buyers? They try to keep up the hype around those, but to expensive for a gimmick.
It's like in the beginning of the year when they announced that S21 series is selling like hotcakes in Korea, and now we found that the is waay beyond S20.

I'm just worried about the display. How easy is it to accidentally rip the film off? If that happens, does it mean that the display is ruined or can you apply replacement film yourself?

Here's hoping they fix the dimensions of the phone. It's so freaking awkward to use. When folded, it's not as comfortable to use as the OG Fold. When unfolded, the aspect ratio consists of humongous black bars which, again, was better on the first Fold with a 4:3 screen. The reason why foldable exist in the first place is because phones are getting too big. The latest two Folds do not address this problem but rather contribute to it.
