4G LTE is cheaper than 3G and 5G to run, and still its potential speeds are never touched properly. (cheaper than 5G because it still has tower range, which lacks severely in proper 5G. More towers = more expense)
Even basic 4G hardware can do 50 mbps upload and 150 mbps download.
which is 6 MB/ sec upload and 18MB down, tell me you ever saw those speeds in real life 4G?

The Android Freak, 22 Aug 2021Why 3G isn't refarmed yet for 4G/5G yet? All the carrier in the world already reframe 2G/3G and even 4G for 5G.
in fact they always "adjust" the technology they have to maximize the profit all the time.
In lots of country, while 2G is still available now, it's very slow because the carrier only give small set of frequency. 3G is also the same. As of now, the most 3G band in carrier is 2 band only (2x 5MHz). In big city, mostly only 1 band (1x5MHz).

All these new generation speeds are for planned obsolescence. They usually eliminate it after 20 years. Look at 3G. But expect 4G to be around beyond 20 years as it can co-exist with 5G. I have an iPhone 12 mini with 5G and don't even have it set to 5G. It's on LTE only to save battery life. I really don't see a difference in speed.

I do not see the point of a 4G phone anymore. When I upgrade it will be to 5G. The only reason I have not upgraded sooner is the lack of coverage in my area.

Here we have 3 major network carriers.
Telecom, Orange and O2 and some other minir carries such as Tesco Mobile (offered by tesco stores), 4rka (postal service carrier), Radost (you can translate that as happiness pure online provider with no physical stores, you get your sim card viia post office when you install app from google play store and log in) and so on maybe like 10 minor carries by total but all of the working on 3 major carriers network signal but offers great prices.
For example 4rka for 20 euros a month you get unlimited calls and text to worldwide and unlimited data. Radost is having same. Average salary in Slovakia is around 800 eur per month lowest possible is around 620 for this year so its a good deal.

Lifts and some places stuck aroubd hugemountains have barely no internet but 98% of my country works on 4G LTE. We are s,all country low salary high taxes but i am happy here :-)

I don't feel the need for 5G at all, I even downloaded application updates, software updates on my celular network with ease. Plus we don't have much pure 5G except for downtown Bucharest and other big cities, but then again I only lacked 4G on the deepest forests around the country, but the inernet was still fine there, too. Plus the plans are pretty cheap as well for how much data we're getting. Right now I pay 8€ for 50 GB of 4G+ that I never ever even use 0.5% of. Also I use a Galaxy S9 Exynos

For most people, 4G is more than enough. If you need such speed, then you probably got something serious to do, just use gigabit Ethernet or WiFi 6, 5G is way too much for most peoples need.

It will be few more years before 5G would even make its debut here in my country, so I'll just keep using my 4G smartphone until 5G has become widely mainstream nationwide. By the time that happens, both Qualcomm and Mediatek will launch a more powerful chipset with better efficiency and wider 5G bands.
