Apple has tested and rejected an in-display fingerprint reader for iPhones, says Mark Gurman

23 August 2021
Face ID is here to stay, though it might move behind the display on future high-end iPhones, according to the Bloomberg journalist.

HaterzSuckkkkk, 26 Aug 2021bruh you obviously did not get the context. My point is ... moreI truly believe that even after Covid ( or when it is endemic, but less deadly to populace as a whole) significant numbers of people will continue to wear masks.
5 -10 years ago in Disney you would see all these Asian people wearing surgical masks, and I didn’t get it.

Now I do.

People will still use the passcode instead of removing masks, but I agree that facial recognition will never be what Apple suspected it would be

Always On is not inspired by Apple Watch, but by Nokia and all Android manufacturers.

FaceID is not gonna dissapear when smartphones dissapear, its gonna stay around for a long time. And during that time, it will be superior to in-display fingerprint scanners 95% of the time.

mooox, 26 Aug 2021Interesting that you bring up that point about software sup... moreThis claim falls under "shit that doesn't actually happen". It's all these made up claims how iPhones miraculously get slowed down by software updates as some sort of evil planned obsolescence scheme. Meanwhile Android phones get slow for no logical reason by being stuck on same ancient outdated Android version from 3 years ago...

Apple phones start to slow down after 3rd year update to a pretty unusable state, and repair costs escalate after warranty till you can buy a relatively new 2nd hand phone with each complete repair.
Other than the online forums, Apple users in real life know NOT to update their older phones or risk having an unusable phone.
On the other hand, Android users are having phones that are just as fast after 3 years.

We know for a fact that FaceID doesn't work over time as someone ages, but magically fingerprints do.

Your logic doesn't make sense. Technologically FaceID maybe better in specific circumstances, but logically and in the current reality fingerprinting is much better. The pandemic isn't going away any time soon in the near future.

You can hold on to the better tech that you cannot use in most cases, while others use an "inferior" technology to do things faster and better in every situation.

My point is that pandemics that are at the scale of COVID-19 are like once in a century.

So it really doesn't matter if face-ID isn't as good during COVID.

And you're stuck on exactly the same OS that got dropped by vendors years ago without ever getting a single security update. Not talking about features, just security. Can't wait to see what wild excuse you'll make for Android phone makers treating you people like crap and you always keep defending them lol

And properly implemented Face ID is more secure than most fingerprint implementations, and far more reliable:
