Since elderly ppl don't know thye shouldn't put electronics in water it will get damaged so ip rating can protect it. Also its ui is very simple and easy to use. Also elderly people get annoyed of having to have handle large phones so 19.5:9 aspect ratio with 5.8 inch is pretty compact so it's easy to handle. On top of that the sd card hp jack and the more than enough storage and 3 gb ram(for old people) is enough with cheap price. Although this is Japan only so no need to hate

My Alcatel Verso starts going... moreWell I can sya for sure my phone has no ip no splash resistense AND even its display is loose so the water cna go into the component bu ti put it in rain I put it near the sink where it gets tons of splashes I even clean it with water and I spray on the display nothing happen. I guess ur phone is bit old. Even though mine is 2018 one which isn't new

A little bit of water on the screen has it acting like fingers, I can tell when water gets in the charging port, I hear the hiss and see the steam. Normally happens after rain or a workout. Yes I understand I need to upgrade. I miss my blackberry from last decade. ;(

As long as phone brand doesnt include water dmage warraty to your device IPXX rating is useless, obsolette and tottally worthless feature.
Every phone can whitstand few raindrops and for anything else water imune cover for 5 bucks will do its job better than IPXX rating which doesnt helps against salt water, mud water or chemicaly poluted water.
Apart the fact you pay much more for IPXX rating it have no point and value to have it.
