I believe in some fairy tales but maybe from Xiaomi not from Apple who apart copy paste never invented a thing.
Also it will be sper expensive and because this can detour major and all othher carries wonder about the price.
Imagine you can unse only this satelite uplink connection which doesnt belong to any carrer what will be your phone bill or how it will be counted???

Okay. Now this, is innovative. Of course you may not get any satellite connection on a cloudy or rainy day. But this is something worthy of 'courage'. Not removing useful features.

The point, I don't think they were able to patent this before creating the blueprints, creating the design and then mass production without the patent being leaked or public knowledge, and leaked 3 weeks before after production is running takes away even more credibility, but it seems interesting if it's true

There is no WiFi in the desert, or remote areas. Whatsapp, Telegram, Signal, Kik, or FB Messenger (or Snap or Tiktok) wont work if your mobile has no connection.
The point of a satellite chip, albeit unlikely at this point, would be to have zero reliance on cellular, and eliminate deadspace in connectivity.
