I'll just wait for the PS5 slim like I did for Vita and PS4. The PS5 looks great but I really don't care about its design. I'm more practical and care about DURABILITY and USEFULNESS.

I got the much maligned PS4 slim released in 2016 next to the pro. It's called the Walmart version by og PS4 owners. I don't care. Never gave me problems. Solid as a rock. Don't need to deal with a lame blue light show. No fingerprint smudges since it's all matte. Easier to pack being much lighter and slimmer.

Design is just design. Who cares? Maybe you still do if you are still young and shallow. You fish for compliments and attention from random strangers. This is why I prefer the slimmer models even if they tend to look worse and feel cheaper than the phat models.

I have the Galaxy Z Flip3 and I really wanted to return it yesterday until Samsung gave me a $100 refund. Foldables seems like a cosmetic gimmick and just an extension of the curved displays I hated for years.

I'm learning to love my Flip3 but I prefer phones released from 3-4 years ago over it. I really hate that feeling of that crease when typing. Like the display broke when it's not.

Samath N8 808 owner, 30 Aug 2021Somehow, they've always been on this. Favouring early ... moreNot exactly true.

I had the PS1 1001 model. The position of the CD-ROM lens made owners flip the console upside down to work. That was made in Japan. Got it on Sept 2, 1996. Got the 5001 model in 1999. Made in Mexico. That never did that.

      https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_models#PS_One

Early PS2 had the DRE (disc error issues). Got the 50001 model on Nov 21, 2003. Had the quieter fan and can play more DVD formats.

      https://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/15564-ps2-versions-scph-30001-vs-50001-whats-the-difference/

Got the PSP 1001 model on June 6, 2005. Had dead or stuck pixels. Was made in Japan. The d-pad was also unresponsive at times for racing games. Only 32 MB RAM while the cheaper looking PSP slims had double that.

I didn't get a PS3 until Jan 2019. It was the MSG3 one released in 2008. The first versions are supposedly the best because they are the only ones with the Emotion Engine chip to play PS2 games natively without software emulation. But they are also the loudest and less durable. Go read their durability issues on GameFaqs or Reddit.

I owned the PS Vita phat and slim. I prefer the slim much more that I sold the phat. The phat looks nicer. Doesn't feel cheap. But I couldn't stand the weight and thickness. Shorter battery life. Proprietary cable. OLED had these blotches you can see in black backgrounds while waiting for a game to load.

PS Vita slim is my all-time fav PlayStation device. Battery still holds up well and easier to replace it. And OLED is overrated. Everything looks oversaturated. I grew up playing games on LCD which the Vita slim has. I'll play Shenmue on my Pixel 3 and Essential Phone using Redrean and prefer the latter because OLED makes the characters look too orangey.

I tend to just wait for the slimmer PlayStations now. Bought a PS4 slim on May 2017 because it generates less wattage than the OG. The OG looks the best but has the glossy parts that attracts fingerprints and the light gets annoying. The slim is all matte and no light show.

Usually, the versions a couple years after the phat is released are improved. There are some compromises to lower costs but they improve parts that matter for durability. The worst versions are when the console is already late in its life cycle. Like that hideous top-loading PS3.

SMIRNAS, 30 Aug 2021so,, the new one use smaller Heatsink but bigger fan,, whil... moreWow, never thought about that Mr. Obvious

so,, the new one use smaller Heatsink but bigger fan,, while the old one use bigger Heatsink but smaller fan.
i think the result would be better if Sony use Bigger Heatsink and Bigger Fan

Somehow, they've always been on this. Favouring early adopters.

Even Playstation 2 had a lite model launched later, which heated far more than regular one.
So much that my seller wanted my Ps2 back, because it was the big one, which had a solid value in the end.
Same with PS3, each update made it worse.

surprisingly they didnt go with larger fan, smaller heatsink scheme. however, I believe that Sony will increase cpu/gpu rpm on new versions in near future. (when people will no longer post comprasion videos)

Maybe they were capable to deliver same heating dissipation with a smaller heatsink, only heat tests can confirm this.
