Android 12 has a cool system-wide search feature that isn't active yet

03 September 2021
It can be enabled with a Magisk module on rooted phones, but it seems incomplete. What works so far looks promising, though.

Comparing features of non-stock Android with iOS and applying said comparison to the whole Android ecosystem would be like comparing a sport modified car like a Brabus Mercedes and compare it with a stock BMW and apply it to regular Mercedes vs BMW comparison.

Thank you for editing the headline. Honestly, that trick was unnecessary. The current title and description are informative and spark a legitimate curiosity to see how it works, which is the proper way to do this. I really like this site since I've joined it a few years ago and I would be so disheartened to wake up one day and find that my go-to mobile news site was replaced by a cesspool of worthless clickbait. Please keep up the good work GSMArena.

The username that i found in different brands phone page in this website while claimed have all that different phones and all comments being salty there. How ironic is it. Everyone here know your loyal fruity brand but you still take times to being salty in other brand too lmao

I personally don't use this kind of unified search on any product I have so I don't see what the fuss is. Everything is where I want it to be, I don't like mixed matched results.

you are totaly right I dont like tis type of headlines

Anonymous, 03 Sep 2021Stock Android always receives leftovers from other Android ... moreOh my god, you people are literally picking and choosing features from entire Android ecosystem of custom vendor ROMs and whining over Android itself now. I thought I'll never see this day, but here we are. You people really and actually have no clue how any of it works, do you? This is exactly why we say you can only compare stock Android with iOS. Because all the countless custom ROMs are not a representation of Android itself. iOS is, because every single device with that version of iOS has those features guaranteed. Same goes for stock Android. Every single Android with said version has those features guaranteed. Features done by individual vendors are representation of that vendor only and not of Android as whole. Even if some feature is shared by few different vendors. It's NOT what you get on every single Android phone. This is literally why I keep on saying Android phones need to have better software support for major OS updates. Because those guarantee features across ALL vendors. Individual vendor's features do not.

Queue in 300 salty responses from you clueless lot because you didn't understand any of it in 3... 2... 1...

The feature itself is really nice and practical.
Now let's hope that Google won't abuse this or use it as an excuse to scan through the phone and really do respect what type of searches are disabled.

                                      Finally.

Universal search is long overdue for an OS made by a company that got big thanks to search.

Even Apple caught up with Google in that regard

Dipping your toes into clickbait, GSMArena? Yikes. Putting "search" instead of the trademark elusive term of "cool [...] feature" would have still made me click. Now, I consider revoking the whitelist I made for this site, earned because of the lack of clickbait where a lot of sites abuse of it.
