some said Macbook Air M1 only cost 1000USD .. like .. for real?? I run a laptop store here and if it's only that much then i seriously would really love to buy like a hundred units and then re-sell 90 of them here for the price of 1400USD (still 100USD cheaper than the regular price here) and then throw the other 10 into the sea just for the lol of it

People are literally preferring poorest price/performance ratio brands like HMD simply because of lack of competition.
Nevertheless, there aren't much better offering than Xiaomi's in any price range. Be it RedmiBook or Mi Notebook Pro/Ultra. The latter are the best in their price range while RedmiBook is offering similar to competition.

The pc market in India is full of laptops with unusable displays and abysmal battery sizes, not to mention there are not a single decent pc under the 75000 indian-rupee mark (~1000$).

SShreyas, 07 Sep 2021There is not a single offering from any brand in this price... moreSo xiaomi is exploiting the weak competition in India to give people sub-par laptops.

              Cheap quality product...

I still dont get it whats going on in Xiaomi's mind when they built the laptops, a laptop is incomplete without backlit keyboard, just because of this i chose not to buy it. So complete yet so incomplete product.

I bought Lenovo IdeaPad 5 (Ryzen 5- 5500U, 8GB Ram, 512 SSD, 15.6' screen, 57Whr battery, 1.65kg, metal-plastic build) at 50k (INR). Lenovo is much better in terms of everything like build, weight, battery life.
Redmibook is a waste compared to several options in this price.

Its has double the performance in cpu and gpu at least, better build, better display, better speakers, better keyboard and trackpad

If the difference is about 500$, than for a lot of people is too much and this could be a good choice

Almost 700€ for TN panel with 52% sRGB coverage, iGPU and soldered and non-upgradable RAM. This laptop should cost about 300-400€.

I just think it is not a bad idea to leverage big corporations like Apple to invest in india. It has paid off too up to some extent. Look at Samsung, Xiaomi for instance. They manufacture their products in India and are actually quite reasonably priced. Apple also manufacture some products in India now and they are significantly lower priced than before right?

It looks really untidy in the inside, very plastic in the outside. I don’t think this computer will make it more than 2 years. At least for me that I travel very frequently. If it makes it, it will be worthless, just 700 dollars lost. It’s better to spend a few dollars more and get a MacBook Air which is not only way faster than this thing but absolutely of premium quality in every aspect. Just only the rich sound you get when listening to music on the Air would worth any penny spent. And the point is that a Mac can last for ever and can fetch a good price if sold as second hand. I recently sold my 10 years old MacBook Pro late 2011 (which I never had to fix it once and everything was working well) for 300 dollars to get the MacBook Air and that means it cost me just 700 dollars.

It'd be better if government starts allocating more budget to infrastructure rather than using cheap tricks as an excuse to earn revenue.

P.S: This comment isn't meant for you, but for government

It's almost double the price of this RedmiBook and makes no sense for someone in this price range to even think of MacBook.
