TALE, 02 Feb 2022Google have now officially responded here - https://issuetr... moreLow endurance flash chip with low TBW (terabytes written). This issue will keep happening more and more as time goes on, with no fix because the Qualcomm Firehose files have not been found yet despite years of searching.
Pixel 1, 2, 4, 5 can EDL brick too: the cause in these models is unknown, but is suspected to be the bootloader corrupting itself so badly it can't verify its own locked state. Bad updates may be responsible.
It may just be a storage failure too, but the certainty of this is unknown.

I heard Pixel 6+ can brick too, their screen looks different, the mode is named "Pixel ROM Recovery", it looks like a standard serial device to a PC, and it could be theoretically be recovered with Exynos-specific tools, but no successes have been reported either, though we're closer than EDL.
I've heard it happens on strange situations like running adb reboot bootloader, rarely.

Google must be held accountable for these continuing issues. Tens and tens of thousands of Pixels are bricked.

My Pixel3 bricked when i was charging overnight. Obviously didnt see what happened since i was sleeping. Previous day was working fine. Nothing works. Doesnt turn on at all and doesnt charge.
When connecting to a PC i hear the noise of "connecting", but it is not recognized at all (i dont see any logo or popup of new drive connected, just the noise).

Service center says it may be the charging assembly or the motherboard. I think it is the motherboard since i hear the noise when charging.

I did not backed up all my photos nor synced it. How do i recover the photos? Usb debugging may be off. Cant remember. Does anyone tried to remove the internal storage and connected it as a usb drive?

Google have now officially responded here - https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/192008282

      Google Response:
“This issue occurred due to the natural lifecycle of a memory component. Memory components have a predefined lifecycle based on consumer use cases over time. The recommended solution is an out of warranty repair or replacement - see https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/10227672 to contact our authorized repair vendor”.

      Status: Won't Fix (Infeasible)

So Google built a phone with a component that can be used up during normal use before they even end software support for the device. Good job Google!

        don't update

Pixel 3XL bricked overnight a few days ago. Makes me hesitant to get the new pixel 6 pro as the lack of support from google concerning the black screen of death is nonexistent.

My pixel 3xl bricked 2 nights ago. I use it heavily for my business and being without a phone for a day until I bought a new one could have cost me a lot of money.

i was able to reset it to factory settings before it went hardcore into this cycle.

my phone appeared to be overheading so i let it cool off by placing it on the AC vent the did a back up and reset to factory settings... took 10 hours but my phone seems to be fine... for now.

Some people aren't camera addicts and demand hardware reliability and long battery life too.

Love pixel 3, still takes better photos than S21 or iphone 12. The software integration and thoughtfulness is way better than any other phone.

There is one big issue Google needs to fix software wise, it needs to have a really good messaging app.

Another is hardware: if you put the latest best hardware you can charge an arm and a leg, but if you go with second tier, make sure that you still put long term quality components.

Look at ipads, have you heard of ipads being bricked after 3 years? And this is a $300 device. Common Google, you too can do this it's not that hard.

Mine bricked 2 weeks ago. Was a loyal pixel customer from the beginning but have now jumped ship and bought competing vendor. Google should stay out of hardware , this is unacceptable.
